1. Scenario Overview
IoT SIM management is where you organize the estate. SIM activation turns a SIM on for the first time, SIM lifecycle tracks the stage timeline, and SIM lookup searches by condition. This page is about groups, tags, batch actions, and one view: SIMs sit under a project, a customer, or a device, you can import and act on many at once, and a large estate stays searchable.
Status and usage stay in sync with the operator. From the same place you can activate in bulk, suspend and resume, or change a data plan. Those actions live on their own pages. Here the question is how the SIMs are grouped and run.
2. Core capabilities
Groups and tags
Groups follow the way you sell and operate: project, customer, agent, or device type. A SIM belongs to a group, and groups can nest, such as project, sub-project, then device. Tags are labels you choose, for example test SIM, pre-installed, or high risk. Filter on several tags at once, or tag a selection in one pass. A role can be limited to one group or one tag, so several departments can share the estate without seeing each other's SIMs.
Batch actions
Select many SIMs and activate them, suspend or resume service, change the data plan, move them into a traffic pool, or change the group. The selection can be “every SIM in this project” or “every SIM with this tag.” A preview runs before the action so a wide filter does not go out by mistake. The same actions are spelled out on batch activation, suspend and resume, and data plan changes.
One view and search
Page through a large estate, search it, filter on several conditions, sort, and export. Find a SIM by number, status, plan, usage, or owner, and download Excel when the analysis happens offline. Lookup is for finding a record. This view is for organizing SIMs and acting on them.
APIs into your systems
The open API keeps SIM records in step with ERP, CRM, and the systems that own the customer. Calls cover SIM updates, group changes, and batch actions.
3. Management and the single actions
This page organizes the estate and runs actions in bulk. The other pages each do one job:
| Capability | What it owns | What you do there |
|---|---|---|
| IoT SIM management | How a large estate is organized, and how actions run in bulk | Groups, tags, one view, batch actions |
| SIM activation | First time a SIM goes live | One SIM, a batch, or an API call, under an activation policy |
| SIM lifecycle | The stage timeline | Stage definitions, transition rules, renewal at expiry |
| SIM lookup | Finding a record when you need it | Search by ICCID or MSISDN, and filter |
Start here when the question is organization. Open the single-action pages when the question is one job. Combine a group with a tag when the filter needs both, and let batch actions call the same jobs those pages already define.
4. Where teams use it
- By project: Connected vehicles and shared devices keep their SIMs in a project group, so the project owner sees only that fleet.
- By customer: Each B2B customer has a SIM pool. Grouping by customer makes reconciliation and support line up with the account.
- Batch operations: Select the SIMs in a group, then suspend, resume, change the plan, or move them into a traffic pool without opening each record.
5. What changes in daily operations
Groups and tags match the way the business is split, and they limit who can see which SIMs. Batch actions take activation, suspend and resume, and plan changes off a one-by-one queue. One view still pages, filters, and exports when the estate is large. APIs push the same SIM record into ERP and CRM. Add SIM lifecycle and operator integration when the stage history and the carrier link have to sit beside the groups.
6. How to put it in place
Connect the operator and let status sync before you design groups and tags. Build groups around how you already sell and support, and keep tags free for exceptions. Try a batch on a small set before you run it across a project. Use the API when another system should own the SIM record. The view pages, filters, sorts, and exports so a large estate does not have to be split into spreadsheets.
