1. Scenario overview
Open API integration is about keeping production stable and safe. While you are building, you need a place that does not touch production data, and does not start real billing or a real operator command. Sandbox and call logs on the SimtoLink IoT Cloud Platform give you a sandbox tenant of its own: its own key and gateway, and simulated SIMs and orders. Callbacks for webhooks and event subscriptions go to the sandbox endpoint too. Production keeps a full API call log: request ID, duration, error code, and a masked summary of the body, for troubleshooting and audit.
The sandbox and production APIs look the same. Only the environment and the data differ. Logs can follow one trace_id from the gateway, through the business service, to the operator call downstream.
2. Core capabilities
Sandbox
Create a sandbox app in one step. The docs give the sandbox base URL. You can reset the data. You can simulate a successful payment, a SIM status change, and other events.
Log search
Filter by time, app, API, error code, or ICCID. Search the full text of a request_id. A large body is paged, and you can download it compressed.
Retention and compliance
Set how many days to keep a log, and archive it to the customer’s OSS. Roles and audit decide who can open a log.
Health and SLA
The console shows API availability and latency, and alerts when something is off. It can be tied to the SLA and technical support plan.
3. Typical use cases
- A new system, tested before it goes live: The backend team runs the full API set in the sandbox first. They simulate activation success, failure, and a data alert, so the error paths are covered before production.
- A complaint that a batch of SIMs will not suspend: Operations filters the log by ICCID and time, finds the error code and the operator’s response, and the hunt drops from hours to minutes.
- An audit or a security look-back: When calls spike, security follows the API chain in the log, with the request IP and the account, and checks for access that was not authorized. That is the trail classified protection and industry rules ask for.
4. Implementation notes
When integration is done, run a production go-live checklist: rotate keys, set the IP allow list, and set the rate limit. In production, turn on sampled logs when QPS is very high, if the compliance rules allow it.
5. What you gain
A sandbox and call logs on the SimtoLink IoT Cloud Platform shorten integration, find a problem faster, and meet a security audit. Engineering can test without touching production data, so a typical API integration takes less time. A trace_id ties the log together, so a production issue is easier to replay and to explain. Masking and archive rules keep the trail the auditor wants, without exposing more personal data than you need.
