Product Overview and Engineering Role
The SimtoLink 64-channel digital acquisition module concentrates dry contacts, relay feedback, limit switches, and interlock signals. It adds debounce, polarity selection, and grouped SOE (sequence of events) timestamps, then sends the data over Modbus or Ethernet to a PLC, SCADA, or an MQTT edge gateway.
Surge protection and isolation are available by order code, and CSV point lists can be imported in bulk. SimtoLink provides a cabinet wiring-layer recommendation and a checklist for false DI triggers, which shortens panel-shop assembly and on-site I/O point checks.
Reliability and Site Conditions
For electrical safety and EMC, the module has passed the relevant IEC 61000-4 Level 4 tests. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout reduce ground-loop and common-mode risk. Outdoor or coastal sites can use a higher ingress rating and an anti-corrosion coating.
Software supports bulk parameter import, threshold policies, and SOE or event push depending on the model, with OTA configuration and firmware updates. SimtoLink recommends a three-step site acceptance: power-on self-test, communications time sync, and a spot check of channel status. For safety-interlock use, type-test documents and third-party test support are available.
Key Hardware Parameters
Listed here are the key hardware parameters of a typical build, for selection notes and for technical clauses in a bid. If you need a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant, ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the same family can differ in detail; follow the nameplate and the papers shipped with the module.
| Parameter | Specification | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
| Number of channels | 64 DI channels | Digital inputs (discrete) |
| Input type | Dry contact / 12–24V DC active | Polarity, threshold, and grouping follow the order code |
| Debounce | 0–32 ms configurable (typical) | Cuts contact bounce and false alarms |
| Scan cycle | Full board ≤10 ms (typical) | Configurable, fast enough for interlock refresh |
| SOE resolution | ≤1 ms (typical) | Depends on the time-sync method and the order code |
| Isolation and surge | Optional port or group isolation and surge protection | See the specification and the nameplate |
| Communication | RJ45 10/100M + RS485 | Modbus TCP / Modbus RTU, etc. |
| Time synchronization | NTP/SNTP, IRIG-B optional | Aligned to the master station or SCADA clock |
| Power supply | AC 220V (typical) | Wide-range and redundant options on request |
| Power consumption | <12 W | Typical full load |
Typical Use Cases
Common ways this module is put into service, so a scheme can be chosen and the result judged:
Elevator Group Control and Fire Feedback
Large sets of feedback contacts need a single SOE sequence. This module cuts the number of PLC digital modules and leaves room to add points later.
Warehouse Door Contacts and Conveyor Interlocks
Roller-shutter, light-curtain, and e-stop loop states are reported in batches and lined up with WCS and MES events.
Distribution and Bus-Tie Position Monitoring
Breaker and disconnector auxiliary contacts are gathered inside dense cabinets, supporting electrical misoperation prevention and the energy management system.
Installation, Grounding, and Maintenance
- Before applying power, confirm the supply range and polarity. If there is any doubt, check bus voltage and breaker capacity with a multimeter.
- Run communications on shielded twisted pair, grounded at one end only, and keep it out of long parallel bundles with high-power cables.
- On first connection, prove bidirectional read and write and threshold triggers with the platform in the lab before the module goes to site.
- Where the module is outdoors, give drainage and ventilation first priority, inspect the sealing faces regularly, and keep lightning-protection earth resistance inside local limits.
- In continuous service, spot-check channel status and archive logs every 6 months.
Ordering, Documentation, and Support
SimtoLink provides the hardware specification, mechanical drawings, a wiring schedule, and example projects. Volume orders can include sample approval and a resident factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents that ship with the goods.
