Where the Gateway Sits in the Mesh
The SimtoLink Bluetooth Mesh aggregation gateway is for Bluetooth Mesh 1.0 networks that combine the Proxy and Friend roles. It batches model-layer state and telemetry onto the IP side. It fits indoor networks that need multi-hop, multicast, and low power: industrial lighting, warehouse tags, and dense sensing.
Subnet and App Key isolation, a relay blacklist, and an OTA distribution window are supported. Northbound output can be MQTT or Modbus. SimtoLink supplies model-ID to JSON mapping examples and an RSSI heatmap collection script, so an integrator can plan how nodes join and can locate interference.
Reliability on Site
The gateway has the relevant CCC results for electrical safety and EMC. Ports include surge protection and protection against a reversed supply. Ground is reinforced and the board is partitioned, which reduces ground-loop and common-mode risk. Outdoor or coastal orders can specify a higher ingress rating and an anti-corrosion coating.
Software can import parameters in bulk, apply threshold policies, and record event video or waveforms depending on the model. OTA updates both configuration and firmware. SimtoLink suggests three checks on site: power-on self-test, time synchronization, and a spot check of samples. For metering or a safety application, we help with a third-party metrology submission and the type-test file.
Key Hardware Parameters
What follows is the typical configuration, for engineering selection and for technical clauses in a bid. If you need a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version, ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the same family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the accompanying documents govern.

Typical Use Cases
Three ways this gateway is usually deployed, for selection and for judging the result:
Plant lighting at scale
Grouped luminaires take brightness and color temperature over Mesh. The gateway reports energy and faults to the EMS in one place, which cuts DALI cabling.
Warehouse and cold-chain bay sensing
Temperature, humidity, and door-contact nodes hop between racks. The gateway returns data at the end of the aisle, so Ethernet does not have to reach every row.
Experience devices in commercial space
Interactive displays, electronic shelf labels, and other BLE Mesh devices need a stable Friend cache and a phone provisioning path. The gateway looks after them.
Install, Ground, and Look After It
- Before power is applied, confirm the supply range and polarity. Use a meter on the bus voltage and the breaker rating when the label is unclear.
- Communications runs are shielded twisted pair with the shield grounded at one end, kept off long routes shared with high-power cables.
- Do the first commissioning in the lab: bidirectional read and write, and a threshold trip with the platform, then take the gateway to site.
- Outdoors, sort drainage and ventilation first. Inspect sealed faces on a round, and keep lightning-protection ground resistance within the local code.
- While it stays in service, spot-check samples and archive logs every 12 months.
Ordering, Documentation, and Support
SimtoLink ships the hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and an example project. Volume orders can add a sample review and an in-factory inspection. Warranty and calibration are as written in the contract and in the documents that travel with the gateway.
