Product overview and engineering role

Built for low-power sensor backhaul from the field, pipe networks, and widely scattered points. The figures on this page support selection, bid clauses, and later spot checks. The node combines an analog and digital front end, a local cache, and batch registration, and it can backfill and resume after a wireless dropout. Wide temperature, lightning protection, and low standby power are built in. Firmware can be signature-checked, and parameters can be pushed remotely, which suits a large rollout that stays unattended.

By default the node offers Gigabit Ethernet and a standard industrial connector, so it can sit on an existing SCADA, energy, or IoT platform. SimtoLink supplies a southbound point-list template and northbound MQTT and HTTP examples, which shortens joint commissioning. Volume jobs can add silk-screen, harness length, protocol mapping, and a calibration certificate.

Reliability and site fit

The unit has passed the relevant IEC 61000-4 Level 4 tests. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a zoned layout cut ground-loop and common-mode noise. Outdoor and coastal sites can specify a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.

Parameters import in batches, with threshold rules and event or waveform capture where the model includes them. Configuration and firmware can move over the air. Accept on site in three steps: power-on self-test, time sync, and a sample check. Metering or safety use can add a third-party metrology submission and type-test documents.

Key hardware parameters

Figures below are the typical build, for a selection note and for bid clauses. A wider span, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe variant is available on request with the hardware specification and the installation guide. Order codes in this family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers shipped with the node govern.

Typical applications

Four deployments, useful when you design the scheme and estimate payback:

Water and gas networks

Pressure, flow, and leak sensors in valve pits, regulator boxes, and pump stations report from many points, so patrols are fewer and a leak shows up sooner.

Open-field and protected agriculture

Soil moisture, microclimate, and irrigation-valve state are collected across the site, for precision irrigation and early warning of weather damage.

Geohazard and slope monitoring

Tilt, crack width, and rainfall go up on a long cycle, which fits solar power and a weak network.

Warehouses and the cold-chain edge

Temperature, humidity, door contacts, and sensors around asset tags fill the blind spots, and with the gateway they form a continuous watch band.

Installation, grounding, and maintenance

  • Confirm supply range and polarity before power is applied. Check bus voltage and breaker rating with a meter when the circuit is unfamiliar.
  • Communications use shielded twisted pair with the shield grounded at one end. Do not lash it to high-power cable for a long run.
  • On first commissioning, prove two-way reads and writes and threshold triggers with the platform in the lab, then take the node to site.
  • Outdoors, sort drainage and ventilation before anything else. Inspect sealing faces on a schedule, and keep lightning-earth resistance within local rules.
  • In continuous service, sample-check the node and archive logs every 24 months.

Ordering, documentation, and support

The enquiry pack includes the hardware specification, an outline drawing, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can add a sample review and a resident factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents that travel with the node.
