Product overview and engineering role

Built for State Grid and China Southern Power Grid meter-data terminals, and for commercial and industrial meters. It parses DL/T 645-2007 and 1997 frames and maps them to IEC 60870-5-104 points, so an existing dispatch or control master can take a large meter population without a new driver.

SimtoLink supplies a field map for tariff periods, frozen energy, and event records, plus a batch time-sync method. Multi-drop polling of several meters on one line can be tuned in firmware. Volume jobs can add a DIN-rail housing and spare serial ports.

Reliability and site fit

The unit has passed the relevant CE and FCC tests. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a zoned layout cut ground-loop and common-mode noise. Outdoor and coastal sites can specify a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.

Parameters can be imported in batches, with threshold rules and event or waveform capture where the order code includes them. Configuration and firmware update over the air. On site, accept the converter in three steps: power-on self-test, time sync, and a sample check. Metering and safety jobs can include help with a third-party metrology submission and type-test papers.

Key hardware parameters

The rows are the typical build for a bid schedule. Ask if you need a wider span, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe variant, and SimtoLink will send the hardware specification and the installation guide. Order codes in the family are not identical; the nameplate and the pack list decide.

Typical applications

Three ways this converter is usually installed, useful when you are still selecting and when you prove the link to the master:

Campus boundary and submetering

A large RS485 meter population reaches the IEC 104 master through one converter, so fewer dedicated meter-reading terminals are needed.

Charging stations and microgrids

AC and DC charger meters line up with the dispatch protocol, so demand-response settlement has a source.

Temporary construction power

Meters on the pad-mount outgoing join the existing SCADA quickly, and the whole unit can move to the next job.

Installation, grounding, and maintenance

  • Confirm supply range and polarity before power-up. Check bus voltage and breaker rating with a meter when the circuit is unfamiliar.
  • Use shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end, and do not bundle it with high-power cable over a long run.
  • Prove two-way reads and writes and a threshold trip against the platform in the lab before the converter goes to site.
  • Outdoor mounts need drainage and ventilation first. Inspect sealing faces on a schedule, and keep lightning-earth resistance within local rules.
  • In continuous service, sample-check the unit and archive logs every 12 months.

Ordering, documentation, and support

The pack includes the hardware specification, an outline drawing, a wiring table, and a sample project. A volume order can add a sample review and a resident factory inspection. Warranty and calibration stay with the contract and the documents that travel with the converter.
