Product Overview and Engineering Role
The SimtoLink HTTP REST southbound collector is for third-party devices, older business platforms, and SaaS subsystems that only expose an HTTPS/JSON interface. At the edge it pulls REST resources on a configurable interval, or it subscribes by Webhook or long polling, maps response fields into one measurement-point model, and hands that model to SCADA, a time-series store, or an MQTT bus.
Authentication covers OAuth2, an API key, and mutual TLS. Rate limits, retries, and a quarantine queue for bad payloads are built in. SimtoLink supplies OpenAPI snippet import, JSONPath field templates, and a northbound sample project, so an integrator can write a tender acceptance case that is southbound REST and northbound MQTT.
Reliability and Site Conditions
On electrical safety and EMC, this collector has cleared the relevant salt-spray and vibration type tests. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. A reinforced ground and a zoned layout keep ground loops and common-mode noise down. Outdoor or coastal sites can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Parameters can be imported in bulk, threshold rules can be applied, and event video or waveforms can be stored, depending on the model. Configuration and firmware move by OTA. On site, finish three checks before sign-off: power-on self-test, time sync on the link, and a spot check of sampled readings. Where the data is used for metering or for safety, SimtoLink helps send the unit to a third-party metrology institute and supplies the type-test file.
Key Hardware Parameters
The table is the typical configuration for this collector, for selection and for bid clauses. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant is available from SimtoLink with the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the documents shipped with the unit govern.

Typical Deployments
How this collector usually lands in a project, for scheme selection and for judging the result:
Third-party SaaS and open platforms
When parking, access control, and EV charging only offer a REST API, the collector pulls status and order events in one place, so the cloud platform does not have to publish a public callback address.
Add-on for older MES systems
Line MES and ANDON report work orders and takt over HTTP. The gateway aggregates them inside the shop VLAN and converts them to OPC UA or MQTT, which fits MLPS zone separation and the audit trail.
Collection in front of government and SOE APIs
For read-only REST services that outside organizations expose, the collector applies an allowlist, pins the certificate, and keeps an access log, then writes standard points into the internal energy-management or dual-carbon platform.
Installation, Grounding, and Maintenance
- Confirm the supply range and polarity before power-up. If needed, check bus voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter.
- Run the communications cable as shielded twisted pair, grounded at one end, and keep it out of a long bundle with high-power cables.
- On first connection, prove bidirectional read and write and threshold triggers against the platform in the lab, then move the collector to site.
- Outdoors, keep drainage and ventilation clear, inspect the sealing faces on a schedule, and hold lightning-protection earth resistance inside local limits.
- In continuous service, spot-check samples and archive logs every 24 months.
Ordering, Documentation, and Support
SimtoLink supplies the hardware specification, an outline drawing, a wiring table, and a sample project for this collector. Volume orders can include a sample review and inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents shipped with the unit.
