Counting on the box
The SimtoLink pedestrian counting and heatmap box is for footfall, path planning, and how a public space is run. The figures on this page are the ones a buyer can lock in a selection, cite in a tender, or check later in the field. On the box it detects heads and bodies, counts line crossings, and builds zone heat. Anonymization before the cloud is optional. The hardware takes several video inputs and is cooled for continuous duty. Firmware is signed and updates over OTA, which is what a volume rollout and remote maintenance need.
The default port is Gigabit Ethernet on a standard industrial connector, so the box can join an existing SCADA, energy, or IoT platform. Southbound point-list templates and northbound MQTT/HTTP examples shorten commissioning. Volume jobs can add housing marks, a set harness length, a protocol map, and a calibration certificate.
Salt, vibration, and the rack
Salt-spray and vibration type tests cover the electrical-safety and EMC items on this box. Each port has surge and reverse-polarity protection. A heavier earth and a partitioned layout hold down ground loops and common-mode noise. For a coastal or outdoor cabinet, order the higher ingress rating and the anti-corrosion coat.
Parameters load in a batch. Threshold policies, and event video or waveform capture, follow the model. Configuration and firmware both move by OTA. Close a site in three steps: power-on self-test, time sync, and a sampling spot check. Metering or safety use can include a third-party metrology submission and the type-test file.
Key specifications
The table is a typical build, for selection and for a tender clause. A wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant is quoted separately. Ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers in the box govern.

Rooms this box watches
Four sites, for the scheme and for a payback note:
Supermarkets and malls
Floor and store footfall, dwell time, and the conversion funnel, so rent and display decisions have a number.
Museums and scenic sites
Exhibit heat and a congestion warning, tied to guide screens and a crowd-limit announcement.
Hubs and platforms
How full a passage is, and where transfers bunch up, for staffing and for where security checks sit.
Smart streets and pedestrian streets
Anonymized footfall trends for city operations and for planning a large event.
Power, cable, and the yearly check
- Confirm supply range and polarity before power-up. If the drawing is unclear, measure bus voltage and breaker capacity.
- Use shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end, and keep long runs out of the same bundle as high-power cable.
- In the lab, prove read and write both ways and a threshold trip against the platform, then move the box on site.
- Outdoors, drainage and breathing come first. Inspect seal faces on a round, and keep lightning-earth resistance inside the local code.
- In service, spot-check a sample and archive the logs every 12 months.
Documents with the order
The shipment includes a hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can add a sample review and an inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers with the goods.
