Multi-point RTD on one card

The card is for multi-point platinum RTD measurement and a process record you can audit. The figures on this page are what a bid schedule and a later spot check both use. Three-wire or four-wire wiring cancels lead resistance. Channel isolation and a wide-temperature front end are available, so a substation bus duct, heat-traced chemical pipe, or a cold-store zone can be read again and calibrated again. The front end uses constant-current excitation, several filter settings, and open-circuit detection. Terminals pull out, the watchdog and the redundant check are in place, and firmware can be signature-checked and rolled back for a batch shipment and remote service.

The default port is a fiber SFP on a standard industrial connector, for SCADA, energy management, or an IoT platform. SimtoLink includes a southbound point-table template and northbound MQTT/HTTP examples so the joint test is shorter. Volume jobs can add case marking, a set harness length, a protocol map, and a calibration certificate.

How the card holds a reading

CE and FCC test items are on the record. Each port has surge and reverse-polarity protection. Ground is zoned so a loop or common-mode noise is less likely to shift a channel. Outdoor and coastal orders can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion coating.

A batch file can load parameters and thresholds. Selected models store an event or a waveform. Configuration and firmware go out by OTA. Accept the card with a power-on self-test, a time sync, and a sample of channels. For metering or safety, SimtoLink helps file it with a third-party metrology lab and hands over the type-test pack.

Hardware figures

Typical figures for the standard order, for selection and for a technical clause. For a wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the pack list govern.

Where the card is used

Four placements that show up when the temperature field has to pay for itself.

Petrochemical and power piping

Points on a reactor jacket, a long pipe gallery, and a valve island drive trace-heating power and a leak warning, and they feed the process safety interlock.

Cold chain and food processing

The temperature field in a layered cold store, on a blast-freeze line, and in a lab incubator is kept so a HACCP check and a batch record can be pulled later.

Data halls and switchrooms

Hot spots between in-row cooling, busbars, and UPS units become a continuous temperature-rise curve for PUE work and capacity planning.

Rail cars and equipment bays

Temperature rise on a traction converter, in a battery bay, and inside an electrical cabinet is sent up so maintenance can be planned and summer load can be set.

Install, ground, and recheck

  • Check the supply window and polarity before the card is powered. Measure bus voltage and the breaker rating if the feed is uncertain.
  • Run the link as shielded twisted pair, ground the shield once, and keep it off long power-cable bundles.
  • Read, write, and trip a threshold against the platform in the lab before the card leaves for site.
  • Outdoors, give water a way out and air a way through, inspect the gasket, and keep the lightning earth inside the local code.
  • Once every 12 months, sample channels and file the log.

Order, documents, and support

SimtoLink supplies the hardware specification, outline drawing, wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can include a sample review and a factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers in the box.
