Edge video and intelligent security
The SimtoLink video edge unit has 4~16 Gigabit ports and speaks RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol), ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum), and GB28181 (the national video-surveillance protocol). Hikvision, Dahua, and Uniview cameras connect directly.
The stream is decoded on the box and run through edge AI inference. Only the alarm, the snapshot, and the structured record go upstream, so bandwidth is more than 90% lower than a full-stream design. Load balancing, reconnect after a drop, and stream switching keep it up 7×24 hours. Factories, campuses, construction sites, and warehouses already use it, with more than 20,000 camera channels connected.
Protocols and built-in algorithms
Builds differ by protocol and by which algorithms are loaded, so the box can fit more than one security job. Typical capability:
| Capability | Typical specification | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Video protocol | RTSP, ONVIF, GB28181 | Works with mainstream camera brands |
| Algorithms | Face, helmet, perimeter, smoke and fire | Deep-learning models |
| Person / vehicle | Person detection, vehicle recognition | Several algorithms at once |
| Reporting | MQTT, HTTP | Hands off to a VMS or a security platform |
Each channel sets its own algorithm and sensitivity. One stream can run 2~3 algorithms at the same time. The library can be updated, and an algorithm SDK is there for further development. The models are deep learning, and the false-alarm rate is below 2%.
Jobs in the field, and what changed
From a construction site to a campus and a warehouse, the box covers intelligent security and vision AI. Typical jobs and the results that followed:
Helmet detection on a construction site
A construction group put video edge units on 50 sites for helmets, reflective vests, and perimeter intrusion. The accident rate fell by 40%.
Face access on a campus
A campus runs 200 channels of video edge analysis for face access, vehicle management, and perimeter protection, in place of a card reader at the door.
Smoke and fire in a warehouse
A warehouse runs smoke-and-fire detection plus forklift-path analysis, unattended 7×24 hours, with a violation alarm in seconds.
Factory perimeter
A manufacturer watches the plant perimeter for intrusion and for people who are not on the list, and ties the alarm into MES, ERP, and other business systems.
Selection and deployment
- Channels and protocols: Pick the channel count from the cameras you actually have, and confirm they speak RTSP, ONVIF, or GB28181. SimtoLink will design the video access.
- Algorithms and the platform: Alarms go out over MQTT or HTTP, into SimtoLink Cloud, a third-party security platform, or a VMS. GB28181 cascade can reach a public-security video platform. A web page sets channels, algorithms, and link rules without a program.
- Tuning: Algorithm settings can be tightened for the scene so false alarms drop. A failed or blocked camera has to be cleared quickly or the miss stays hidden. Live video and alarms can be watched remotely. SimtoLink will customize and tune the algorithms.
- On the job: NVR recording can be indexed, and an alarm can open the matching playback. An open API ties the box to MES, ERP, and other business systems. SimtoLink supports the platform join and the install.
Rollout
Work through the deployment in this order:
SimtoLink commissions on site and tunes the algorithms so security and the business systems sit on one chain.
Service and support
SimtoLink supplies the video edge plan and custom algorithms, multi-channel access, and the platform join, plus on-site commissioning and algorithm tuning. Ask for the product manual and a proposal price.
