Smart Quality Inspection Solution

Machine vision, in-line inspection, SPC, and defect traceability for stronger manufacturing quality control

Smart quality inspection overview

The solution uses artificial intelligence machine vision, IoT, and big data for surface-defect detection, dimensional measurement, assembly checks, statistical process control (SPC), and defect traceability. Manual visual inspection still misses defects, runs slowly, leaves data hard to trace, and cannot warn in time. Industrial cameras, sensors, and gauges on the network, with deep-learning models, recognize defects and measure dimensions automatically. Inspection can run at more than 10 times manual speed, and the miss rate falls sharply.

SPC charts, Cp/Cpk, and process-capability assessment warn of quality drift before it spreads. Nonconforming parts are tied to batch, equipment, and process settings for root-cause analysis. Quality data connects to MES and ERP so the loop closes across the process. It fits discrete and process industries such as electronics, automotive parts, textiles, steel, and packaging, helping plants tighten control, cut the cost of poor quality, and meet customer and certification requirements.

Industry pain points and certification

Quality cost is typically 10%–15% of revenue, and external failure — complaints, returns, and recalls — is the most expensive part. Manual inspection still carries a miss rate of 2%–5%, runs at only one-tenth the speed of automatic inspection, and scatters data that is hard to trace. IATF 16949 in automotive, ISO 9001 in electronics, and ISO 13485 for medical devices all require a traceable quality system. Machine vision in place of visual checks can bring the miss rate below 0.1% and raise inspection speed by more than 10 times, while quality records stay electronic, traceable, and auditable.

How to implement and what to choose

Choosing vision

Pick 2D or 3D vision from the defect type, and train the deep-learning model on your own products. Match camera resolution and lighting to the line takt.

Deploying SPC

Start with critical processes and critical characteristics. Control limits can be calculated from history or set by quality engineers. An out-of-control point can stop the line or raise an audible and visual alarm.

System integration

Take process, batch, and equipment data from the MES, and send quality-cost data to the ERP. A QMS module (quality management software) can be added so the quality loop covers the full process.

Core capabilities

Full digital quality capability, from inspection through to analysis

Machine-vision inspection

Surface defects such as scratches, stains, cracks, and bubbles are recognized automatically. Dimensions cover length, width, height, hole diameter, and true position. Assembly checks catch missing parts, wrong parts, and wrong orientation. 2D and 3D vision are both supported, and deep-learning models can be trained for your parts.

In-line measurement and capture

CMMs, calipers, and dial indicators send readings automatically. Line PLCs and sensors supply process values as they change. Measurements are stored for history comparison and trend analysis.

Statistical process control

X-R, X-S, p, and c charts, plus Cp/Cpk. Out-of-tolerance alerts, trend warnings, and automatic line stops are included, with linked analysis across processes and characteristics.

Defect traceability and root cause

Nonconforming parts are linked to batch, equipment, people, and process settings. Traceability runs forward and backward. A quality dashboard supports root-cause analysis and the decision that follows.

Typical Use Cases

Connectivity

  • Vision system: Industrial cameras, lighting, and frame grabbers over GigE, USB 3.0, and similar interfaces. Deep-learning inference can run on a GPU or at the edge.
  • Data capture: PLCs, gauges, and sensors connect over OPC UA, Modbus, and RS232.
  • System integration: MES, ERP, and WMS share quality data with production and logistics.
  • Standards: Supports ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, with inspection records that can be audited.
