Overview of Telenor
Telenor Group is a Norwegian international telecom operator headquartered in Fornebu, Norway. It operates networks in several countries and regions in the Nordics (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland) and Asia (Thailand, Pakistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh), serving over 160 million users. Telenor is committed to digital inclusion and sustainable development and has made significant contributions to connecting populations in remote areas.
In the field of the Internet of Things (IoT), Telenor provides global IoT connectivity management services through Telenor Connexion (now renamed Telenor IoT). Its white-label SIM (MVNO) and global eSIM solutions allow partners to deploy IoT devices worldwide. Telenor is a key promoter of the NB-IoT standard and was the first to commercially launch an NB-IoT network in Norway.

Development History and Milestones
Telenor's history can be traced back to the Norwegian National Telegraph Administration established in 1855, making it one of the oldest communication institutions in the Nordic region. In 1994, it transitioned from a state-owned enterprise to a joint-stock company, listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in 1999, and subsequently began large-scale international expansion, entering multiple emerging markets in Asia (Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar) among others.
In the development of IoT, Telenor established Telenor Connexion in Sweden in 2002, focusing on M2M business (now renamed Telenor IoT), becoming one of the earliest operators to manage global IoT connections as an independent business unit. In 2016, Telenor launched Norway's commercial NB-IoT network, becoming a Nordic NB-IoT pioneer. In 2019, it launched eSIM solutions, and in 2020 began deploying 5G networks in the Nordic region. Telenor IoT's white-label SIM business (allowing partners to offer IoT connectivity under their own brand) has served over 500 enterprise clients worldwide.
Analysis of Telenor's white-label SIM business
Telenor's white-label IoT SIM is its most distinctive differentiated product. This service allows enterprises, device manufacturers, or system integrators to provide IoT connectivity services to end customers under their own brand, while Telenor provides global network and platform support in the background. Partners can customize the SIM appearance, design data plans, manage platform interfaces, and quickly establish their own IoT connectivity brand without having to build global network infrastructure themselves.
