Indoor Positioning and Asset Tracking
SimtoLink asset tags use active RFID (active RFID) or BLE 5.1 AoA (Bluetooth angle of arrival) for an RTLS (real-time location system). They locate assets indoors to the meter and watch them enter and leave, for medical equipment, warehouse stock, and tooling.
The tag is low power, with a battery life of 1~3 years, and it supports motion detection. When it sits still it sleeps, which stretches the battery. With locating anchors and readers, several anchors can be fused to about 1~3 m. Hospitals, warehouses, factories, and labs already use the scheme to raise utilization, cut losses, and schedule assets with less hunting.
Specifications
Tags are offered by radio and by the accuracy you need. The table is a typical reference:
| Radio | Accuracy | Typical battery life | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active RFID | 2~5m (zone level) | 1~3 years | Warehouse in and out, zone monitoring |
| BLE 5.1 AoA | 1~3m (meter level) | 1~2 years | Medical equipment, tool locating |
Operating temperature is -20℃~60℃ and the ingress rating is IP54. A geofence and in-and-out counts are included. When a tag trips, a linked camera can pull the video. Asset-management software and an API can join an ERP or an existing asset system. Specs can differ by model. SimtoLink has a selection table so you can match a model quickly.
Where the Tags Are Used
The same tag covers medical equipment, high-value stock, tooling, and lab instruments. Typical jobs and the results after they went in:
Medical Equipment, Found and Counted
One hospital tagged 500 mobile devices. Finding a device dropped from 30 minutes to 2 minutes, and the equipment turned over faster.
High-Value Stock In and Out of the Warehouse
Tagged goods write their own in-and-out record, raise an alarm if they cross a boundary, and watch for theft. A geofence plus the tamper alarm cuts the chance that stock simply disappears.
Tooling Checked Out, Returned, and Counted
One plant tagged 2,000 pieces of tooling. Checkout, return, location, and stocktake run without a clipboard. Tool loss fell by 80%, and counting got more than 10 times faster.
Lab Instruments and Consumables
Valuable instruments, reagents, and consumables carry a tag for the use record, where they were last seen, and an expiry reminder. That is the trail a research lab needs for its asset rules.
Deployment and the Systems Around It
- Anchor density: Place locating anchors for the floor area. A typical 100㎡ needs 2~4 anchors, and a tighter accuracy needs more.
- Which tag: Match size and battery life to the asset. Pick the tamper model when removal has to be seen. Metal nearby will shadow the radio.
- Where it sticks: Put the tag where you can see it, and keep metal off the radio path.
- What it joins: The tag system can talk to an asset-management system, an ERP, and access control, so the record and the process stay in one loop.
- Survey first: Walk the site before you order anchors, and fix the count, the positions, and the coverage. SimtoLink designs the scheme and can install it.
How a Project Moves, and How You Keep It
A practical order for an asset-tag project:
Change a tag before the battery dies, or it drops off the map. A failed anchor pulls the accuracy down, so watch anchor health. Tag and book a new asset when it arrives, or the ledger drifts. SimtoLink supplies the asset platform, maintenance support, and delivery from survey through handover.
Services
SimtoLink supplies the tags and the RTLS scheme, joins them to an asset platform, designs the deployment, and stays on for maintenance. Product manuals, a selection table, and a scheme quote are available.
