GNSS fix and the track
The SimtoLink position sensor pairs GPS (Global Positioning System) with BeiDou (BDS) in a dual-mode GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) fix. Accuracy is <2.5m CEP (circular error probable). LBS (location-based service) from the cellular network fills in indoors or where the sky is weak.
It tracks vehicles, people, and assets, with 4G Cat.1 or NB-IoT on board, and options for an accelerometer and a geofence. The build is industrial, on a wide supply (DC 9~36V) that rides a vehicle bus. SimtoLink location services already run in logistics, sanitation, municipal work, and leasing, with more than 500,000 terminals connected and several hundred million track records a day.
Specifications and which build to pick
SimtoLink position sensors come in several builds, by the job and by the radio, for telematics and for asset tracking. The table is a typical set:
| Application | Typical configuration | Options |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle | 4G Cat.1, DC 9~36V | Accelerometer, driving behavior |
| Asset | NB-IoT, lithium battery | Disconnect and movement alarms |
| Shared mobility | NB-IoT, low power | Geofence, low battery |
| Fix and protection | GPS+BeiDou, LBS assist | Urban canyon >99% success |
Standby draw <2mA. Operating temperature -40℃~85℃. The geofence can be a circle or a polygon, and the enter or exit alarm is delayed by <30s. OTA is supported. These are typical values for the standard models; the product specification governs.
What changed after it went in
From a logistics fleet to a sanitation roster and shared mobility, the sensor covers fleet management and asset tracking. These are typical jobs and the results that were reported:
Live logistics tracking
One logistics company fitted position sensors to 800 trucks for a live track, a geofence, and an overspeed alarm. Vehicle utilization rose 18%.
Sanitation dispatch
One city department put terminals on 2000 sanitation vehicles, reworked the routes, and cut fuel cost by 12%.
Shared-bike service
One bike-share operator fitted NB-IoT terminals to 50,000 bikes for a fix, a geofence, and a low-battery alarm. Service efficiency rose 50%.
Leased-asset recovery
One rental company fitted position sensors to construction machines and equipment, with disconnect and movement alarms, so a missing asset is easier to catch.
How to choose and fit it
- Supply and protection: On a vehicle, take the 9~36V wide supply. For a long outdoor life, take IP67. For a low draw, take the NB-IoT build.
- Options: Theft cases want the disconnect and movement alarms. Temperature, humidity, and a door switch can be added. A built-in accelerometer can watch driving behavior.
- Fit and antenna: Fix a vehicle unit so it does not shake loose. Keep the antenna in the clear. Metal over it makes the fix slow or fail.
- Report rate: Set the rate for the job so the track stays fresh without wasting data. Slow it when the asset is still. Add an abnormal-dwell alarm and an offline alarm.
- Platform: Agree the report rate, the store size, and how the platform connects before you order. SimtoLink offers a location platform or an API, with geofence, track replay, and reports.
How a rollout usually runs
Put a position-sensor job through these steps:
The SimtoLink location platform covers geofence, track replay, reports, and an overspeed alarm, and it can include a data plan and operations support.
Support
SimtoLink helps pick the terminal and runs the location platform, with geofence, track analysis, and a report you can shape. A data plan and operations support are available. Ask for the product manual and a project price.
