Product overview and engineering role

Built for delivering containerized edge apps and for OTA service. The figures on this page support selection, bid clauses, and later spot checks. The container runtime and a baseline security image are already on the unit, so the image you develop is the image that runs on site, and the path from development to test to go-live is shorter. Industrial Ethernet, serial ports, and a watchdog stay in the hardware. Firmware and images can be signature-checked and rolled back. It is meant to be copied across chain stores, parcel stations, and scattered cabinets.

By default the unit offers Gigabit Ethernet and a standard industrial connector, so it can sit on an existing SCADA, energy, or IoT platform. SimtoLink supplies a southbound point-list template and northbound MQTT and HTTP examples, which shortens joint commissioning. Volume jobs can add silk-screen, harness length, protocol mapping, and a calibration certificate.

Reliability and site fit

Salt-spray and vibration type tests back the electrical-safety and EMC claims. Ports carry surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a split layout hold down ground loops and common-mode noise. Outdoor and coastal sites can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.

Software covers a registry policy, Compose and k3s templates, and health probes where the model includes them. The runtime and the base image can be rolled out in stages over the air. On site, close acceptance in three steps: power-on self-test, node registration with an image-signature check, and a smoke test of the key services. Metering and safety jobs can include help submitting to a third-party metrology institute, plus type-test documents.

Key hardware parameters

Figures below are the typical build, for a selection note and for bid clauses. A wider span, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe variant is available on request with the hardware specification and the installation guide. Order codes in this family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers shipped with the unit govern.

Parameter Specification Notes
Edge compute x86 or ARM multi-core, by order code Sized for I/O and container concurrency, not peak AI
CPU Intel, AMD, or embedded ARM Fanless or wide-temperature optional
Memory 8–32 GB (ECC on some models) Pair with container limits and cgroup policy
Storage M.2 NVMe, SATA SSD optional Suggested splits for the container layer, images, and logs
Display Integrated graphics for service or HMI, or headless Depends on platform and order code
Container stack Docker or containerd; k3s optional Playbook for OTA, rollback, and health checks
Network Dual GbE; Wi-Fi, 4G, or 5G optional IEEE 1588 depends on the driver and the model
Operating temperature −20~60 ℃ typical Full-load rise depends on the air path
Power DC 12~48 V; PoE on some models Isolation and reverse-polarity protection
Mechanical DIN rail, wall, or desktop Vibration and cable strain relief depend on the chassis

Typical applications

Four deployments, useful when you design the scheme and estimate payback:

Chain retail and parcel stations

One image rolls POS, shelf labels, and security services forward, so sites are not reimaged and versions do not splinter.

Industrial microservices and an app store

Collection, rules, and visualization are separate containers, issued and retired by work order, for a multi-tenant edge.

DevOps and edge CI

Critical images are retested in a sandbox near the site, which cuts bandwidth and the chance that regulated data leaves the country.

Hybrid cloud and edge

Tied to a Kubernetes or k3s control plane for node autonomy, an offline cache, and policy-drift checks.

Installation, grounding, and maintenance

  • Confirm the supply range and polarity before power-up. Check bus voltage and breaker rating with a meter when the circuit is unfamiliar.
  • Communications use shielded twisted pair with the shield grounded at one end. Do not lash it to high-power cable for a long run.
  • On first commissioning, prove two-way reads and writes and threshold triggers with the platform in the lab, then take the unit to site.
  • Outdoors, sort drainage and ventilation before anything else. Inspect sealing faces on a schedule, and keep lightning-earth resistance within local rules.
  • Every 6 months, check temperature and disk health and archive the logs.

Ordering, documentation, and support

The enquiry pack includes the hardware specification, an outline drawing, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can add a sample review and a resident factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents that travel with the unit.
