Product Overview and Engineering Role
The SimtoLink INT8-quantized NPU edge inference box is built for low-power, cost-effective fixed-point inference. The figures on this page are there for model selection, for technical clauses in a bid, and for maintenance spot checks. The complete unit mounts in a cabinet or on a side bracket in the field, and it can also sit in the path as a video analytics gateway. For a given compute budget it lowers power draw and the thermal design load. The toolchain covers quantization calibration and operator pruning. Signed firmware and OTA updates support volume delivery and remote maintenance.
This model ships with a USB-C debug port and standard industrial connectors, so it can join an existing SCADA, energy-management, or IoT platform. SimtoLink supplies southbound point-table templates and northbound MQTT/HTTP push examples to shorten joint commissioning. Volume builds can add enclosure silk-screen, harness length, protocol mapping, and a calibration certificate.
Reliability and Site Conditions
On electrical safety and EMC, the unit has passed the relevant CCC test items. Ports include surge protection and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout reduce ground loops and common-mode interference. Outdoor and coastal sites can specify a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Software can import parameters in bulk, apply threshold policies, and record events or waveforms, depending on the model. Configuration and firmware move by OTA. SimtoLink recommends a three-step site acceptance: power-on self-test, time sync, and a sample check. For metering or safety-related use, SimtoLink can help with third-party metrology submission and type-test documents.
Key Hardware Parameters
The table below is the typical configuration, for engineering selection and for technical clauses in a bid. For a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe variant, ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the same family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers shipped with the unit take precedence.

Typical Deployments
Four common ways this box is deployed, for solution design and for judging payback:
Smart cameras and access control
Face, mask, and stranger detection close the loop inside the module and cut the bandwidth used to upload video.
Retail self-service terminals
Product recognition and loss-prevention models run on the device, covering peak concurrency and offline checkout.
Battery-powered sensor nodes
Inference wakes on an event, which stretches battery life for outdoor and wearable devices.
White-box gateway builds
Board-level mounting or an M.2 card is enough to ship a protocol gateway SKU that includes on-device AI.
Installation, Grounding, and Maintenance
- Confirm supply range and polarity before power-on. Check bus voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter when the feed is uncertain.
- Run communications on shielded twisted pair, grounded at one end, and keep that cable off long parallel runs with high-power conductors.
- On first bring-up, prove bidirectional read and write and a threshold trigger against the platform in the lab, then move the unit to site.
- Outdoor mounts need a drain path and ventilation. Inspect sealing faces on a schedule, and keep lightning-ground resistance inside local rules.
- For units that stay in service, sample-check readings and archive logs once every 12 months.
Ordering, Documentation, and Support
SimtoLink supplies the hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and sample projects. Volume orders can include a sample review and inspection at the plant. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents shipped with the unit.
