Product overview and engineering role

The SimtoLink NVIDIA Jetson edge AI box is for GPU inference, several video streams, and sensor fusion at the edge. The figures on this page are for selection, for a tender clause, and for a later spot check. CUDA and TensorRT let a trained model move onto the site, and containers make a staged rollout and a rollback practical. Industrial cooling and a wide temperature range are there so a cabinet can stay at full load. SimtoLink can supply an example image, a southbound collection template, and a northbound example, which shortens the joint test.

CAN-FD and a standard industrial connector are the default, so the box can join SCADA, an energy system, or an IoT platform already on site. A southbound point-table template and a northbound MQTT or HTTP push example are included. Volume jobs can add silkscreen on the housing, a set cable length, a protocol map, and a calibration certificate.

Reliability and field fit

Salt-spray and vibration type-test items that apply to this box are covered. Ports have surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced ground and a zoned layout reduce ground-loop and common-mode risk. Outdoor or coastal orders can take a higher ingress grade and a corrosion-resistant coating.

Software can orchestrate inference services, set threshold policies, and, on models that have them, capture event video or waveforms. The system image and container images update over OTA. The three site checks are a power-on self-test, network time sync, and a sample of the inference path. Metering or safety use can include help with a third-party metrology submission and type-test documents.

Key hardware parameters

The table is a typical build of this Jetson box, for a selection note or a tender clause. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant is quoted separately; ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers in the carton govern.

Parameter Specification Notes
Compute Depends on the Jetson module (INT8, commonly about 20~275 TOPS) Tensor Core; based on the selected module and nameplate
SoC NVIDIA Jetson (ARM CPU + NVIDIA GPU) CUDA / TensorRT / JetPack
Memory 4~64 GB LPDDR (depending on the module) Capacity and bandwidth vary with the order number
Storage Onboard eMMC + M.2 NVMe optional Industrial-grade selection
Video Multiple H.264/H.265 codec channels (depending on the module) Multiple 4K capabilities and channel numbers vary by model
Containers and runtime Container environments like Docker + JetPack stack OTA and a canary image rollout
Network Dual GbE Optional 4G/5G; IEEE 1588 depends on model and driver
Operating temperature -20~60 ℃ (typical industrial enclosure) Full-load heat dissipation and airflow related
Power supply DC 12~36 V Isolation and reverse connection protection
Mechanical and expansion DIN rail/wall mount; industrial interfaces like CAN-FD optional Heat dissipation and vibration resistance depend on structure and TDP

Typical applications

Four jobs this Jetson box is usually bought for, when the return is being sized:

Production line visual quality inspection

Defect detection, misassembly and reading code GPU inference tasks are deployed to the workstation side, reducing bandwidth usage and cloud queuing delay.

Multi-channel security and behavior analysis

Multi-channel video structuring at campuses, venues, and traffic checkpoints, with edge-closed-loop alarm linkage and video retrieval strategies.

AMR and collaborative robots

Laser/visual fusion perception, path planning, and safety protection algorithms run locally, improving real-time response and resilience to network disconnection.

Digital twins and on-site visualization

Lightweight 3D rendering, operating condition overlay, and AR assistance delivered at the edge, reducing central GPU load.

Installation, grounding, and maintenance

  • Before powering on, confirm the power supply range and polarity. If necessary, use a multimeter to verify the bus voltage and circuit breaker capacity.
  • Communication cables should use shielded twisted pairs with single-end grounding, and avoid bundling with high-power cables for long-distance laying.
  • For the first commissioning, it is recommended to complete bidirectional read/write and threshold trigger verification with the platform in the laboratory before migrating to the site.
  • For outdoor installation, priority should be given to drainage and ventilation. Regularly inspect sealed surfaces; lightning protection grounding resistance must meet local regulations.
  • For long-term operation, it is recommended to perform a temperature/disk health check and log archiving every 6 months.

Ordering, documentation, and support

SimtoLink provides hardware specifications, structural dimension drawings, wiring tables, and example projects; bulk orders support sample review and on-site factory inspection. Warranty and calibration policies are subject to the contract and accompanying documents.
