What the gateway does
The SimtoLink OPC UA aggregation gateway pulls OPC UA and classic OPC sources from several PLCs, CNC machines, and analyzers into a handful of secure sessions. MES, energy management, and a cloud twin then share one address space and one certificate trust, so the plant firewall carries fewer rules.
SimtoLink includes an information-model mapping tool, a redundant server pair, and a sample interface for the history archive. Username and certificate sign-in, an audit trail, and store-and-forward while the link is down are available by version. Volume builds can be rack-mount or DIN rail.
How it holds up on site
Electrical safety and EMC cover the relevant IEC 61000-4 Level 4 items. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Heavier grounding and a partitioned layout cut ground loops and common-mode noise. Outdoor and coastal orders can take a higher ingress rating and an anti-corrosion coating.
Parameters load in a batch. Threshold policies, and event video or waveform capture, follow the ordered model. Configuration and firmware both update over OTA. Close acceptance on site in three steps: power-on self-test, time sync on the link, and a sampling spot check. If the box feeds metering or a safety function, SimtoLink helps with a third-party metrology submission and the type-test papers.
Key specifications
Figures below are the typical hardware set for this gateway, for selection and for a tender clause. A wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant is quoted separately. Ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the same family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the documents in the box govern.

Where plants use it
Three ways this model usually lands on a job, so selection and the interface test share one picture:
Discrete manufacturing MES
Merge the OPC UA servers on several lines, then hand one session to MES, so the shop floor shows fewer certificates and open ports.
A read-only tap beside the DCS
Leave the main DCS authorization as it is, and give optimization and reporting a read-only aggregated channel.
Industrial internet uplink
Trim and compress the namespace at the edge, then publish northbound into the plant MQTT/Kafka pipe.
Installation, grounding, and upkeep
- Confirm the supply range and polarity before the breaker closes. If the cabinet label is unclear, measure bus voltage and breaker capacity with a meter.
- Use shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end only, and keep long runs off the same bundle as high-power cables.
- On the bench, prove read and write both ways and fire a threshold against the platform before the gateway moves to the plant.
- Outdoors, give water a path out and air a path in. Walk the seals on a schedule, and set lightning-earth resistance to the local code.
- In service, spot-check a sample of points and file the logs every 12 months.
Ordering and support
The pack includes a hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can add a sample review and an in-factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers shipped with the unit.
