What the strap tag is for

The SimtoLink pallet-level RFID strap tag binds an identity to a pallet, a stretch-wrapped load, or a large returnable quickly. Dock doors, aisle portals, and forklift lanes can read a stack at once, so the cost of scanning barcodes one by one drops. Passive or low-power sensor fields can carry temperature and humidity for the job, which is the pallet-level record WMS, TMS, and a cold-chain audit expect.

On metal racking and in a dense stack, read range and polarization have to be set together with the reader antenna. Before go-live, spot-check strap material, tension, and vibration, and confirm the lock policy for the EPC bank and the User bank in the Hardware Specification.

CE, FCC, and the yard

Electrical safety and EMC cover the relevant CE/FCC items. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout limit ground loops and common-mode noise. Outdoor and coastal orders can take a higher ingress rating and an anti-corrosion coating.

Parameters can be loaded in a batch, with threshold policies and event video or waveform capture when the model includes them. Configuration and firmware update over OTA. Close the site in three steps: power-on self-test, time sync, and a sampling spot check. Metering or safety use can include help with a third-party metrology submission and the type-test documents.

Key specifications

These figures are a typical build, for selection and for a tender clause. A wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant is quoted on request. Ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers shipped with the tag govern.

Where the tag earns its keep

Four layouts, for the scheme and for a payback note:

ASRS and aisle portals

Check pallets in and out as a batch, so missed scans and the wrong board show up at the door.

Dock and line-haul

Confirm the pallet before it is loaded, so the handover paper and the physical UID match.

Cold chain and fresh food

Tie the strap to a batch and a temperature zone, for traceability and for finding the broken link.

Third-party logistics

Count returnable containers and reusable packaging, and cut the rate at which those assets disappear.

Fitting, earthing, and the yearly check

  • Before power is applied, confirm the supply range and polarity. If the label is doubtful, measure bus voltage and breaker capacity.
  • Run the link on shielded twisted pair with the shield grounded at one end, and do not lay long lengths in the same bundle as high-power cable.
  • Prove read and write both ways, and a threshold trip, against the platform in the lab before the tags go to the dock.
  • Outdoors, drainage and venting come before cosmetics. Inspect seals on a round, and keep lightning-earth resistance within the local code.
  • On a live site, spot-check a sample and archive logs every 12 months.

Documents with the order

You get a hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can add a sample review and an inspection at the plant. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers in the shipment.
