The dish and the link
The SimtoLink parabolic directional point-to-point antenna uses a parabolic reflector for a narrow main lobe and a high front-to-back ratio. It is for line-of-sight microwave or broadband wireless backhaul across a campus, an oilfield, or a port. At the same EIRP, the link budget reaches farther.
Gain and mounting in the table have to be worked with tower wind load, lightning protection, and feeder loss. A small install error is an alignment miss. Aim and lock the dish from the Hardware Specification and the site survey.
Wind, ice, and rain fade
High wind and ice can warp the surface and walk the boresight. Tower twist fades the link as well. Check bracket bolts and the azimuth and elevation scales on a regular round.
Rain fade and atmospheric multipath show up more at the higher bands. SimtoLink asks for spare link margin, and for automatic power or modulation adaptation on the radio at the far end.
Key specifications
RF and mechanical figures below are a typical build, for selection and for a tender clause. Other bands, dish diameters, or a dual-polarized version are a separate request. Ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the family can differ; the nameplate and the papers with the antenna govern.
| Parameter | Specification | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Band | 5.1~5.9 GHz and others | Sub-6 / license-exempt bands on request |
| Gain | 22~34 dBi | Depends on aperture and frequency |
| VSWR | <1.8 | Typical frequency points |
| Polarization | Vertical or horizontal linear | Match both ends of the link |
| Impedance | 50 Ω | N-type and similar connectors are common |
| Power | Limited by the bridge radio and regulations | Watch EIRP |
| Ingress protection | IP65~IP67 | Outdoor builds follow the specification |
| Feeder | Low-loss cable such as LMR-400 | Length changes the link budget |
| Operating temperature | -40~70 ℃ | Typical outdoor |
| Mounting | Pole clamp plus elevation and azimuth | Needs a precise aim |
Links this dish usually carries
Four jobs, for the scheme and for judging payback:
Campus buildings
A gigabit-class wireless bridge across a road or a river, in place of a temporary fiber run.
Oil, gas, and ports
Line-of-sight backhaul between scattered tank farms, berths, and the control room.
Security from a high point
A wide link between cameras on a high site and the equipment room, so fiber civil work costs less.
Carrier and private-network fill-in
A temporary or permanent relay aimed into a valley or a shadowed patch.
Aim, bond, and the wind season
- Finish azimuth and elevation with a theodolite or a laser aligner, then mark the fasteners so a loose bolt is obvious.
- Keep the feeder short. Waterproof the joints and point the drain so water cannot enter the RF port.
- Tower earth and the lightning-rod protection angle must meet the code, and the feeder outer shield must be bonded.
- Before and after wind season, check the mesh and the bracket welds, and record any change in the reflector shape.
- Log RSSI and MCS with the far end over time, and realign if the link drifts slowly.
What ships with the order
SimtoLink includes a hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can add a sample review and an inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers in the crate.
