A fence that sees in weather
The SimtoLink perimeter millimeter-wave radar detector watches walls, fences, and open ground. It keeps coverage in rain, fog, at night, and through partial vegetation. A volumetric alarm zone and multi-target tracks are easier here than with an infrared beam. Distance gates, speed, and RCS features filter temperature drift and small animals in software. With PTZ tracking and a light deterrent, the site runs radar first and video second, so the link stays narrow.
During design, scan the RF environment and simulate mount height and tilt. The Hardware Specification should fix zone layout, the RS485 and relay outputs, and where ONVIF ends and a private SDK begins on the platform. Oil and gas and airport orders can take an intrinsically safe or enhanced lightning-protection code.
CCC and the cabinet
Electrical safety and EMC cover the relevant CCC items. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout limit ground loops and common-mode noise. Outdoor and coastal orders can take a higher ingress rating and an anti-corrosion coating.
Parameters load in a batch. Threshold policies, and event video or waveform capture, follow the model. Configuration and firmware both update over OTA. Close the site in three steps: power-on self-test, time sync, and a sampling spot check. Metering or safety use can include a third-party metrology submission and the type-test file.
Key specifications
Figures below are a typical build, for selection and for a tender clause. A wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant is a separate request. Ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers with the unit govern.
| Parameter | Specification | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Detection principle | FMCW millimeter wave | Range / speed / RCS |
| Typical range | 50 m class (depends on model) | Depends on mount height |
| Target capability | Multi-target tracks / zone layout | Layered software filter |
| Communications | RS485 / relay / RJ45 (per order) | ONVIF/SDK |
| Supply | PoE / DC 12V | Outdoor lightning protection optional |
| Video | No onboard camera | Linked PTZ |
| Storage | Events reported to the platform | Edge parameter cache |
| Explosion protection | Not explosion-proof (typical) | Oil and gas order code |
| Operating temperature | -18~55 ℃ | Indoor and outdoor |
| Standard | GB / perimeter enterprise standard (per order) | Project acceptance |
Perimeters it covers
Four layouts, for the scheme and for a payback note:
Campus and factory fence
Stacked zones and a loitering alarm, with less upkeep than an infrared beam.
Energy sites and substations
Intrusion on an unattended yard, tied to a sound-and-light alarm and a video preset.
Airport and port fence lines
A long linear cover that helps low-altitude and ground security work as one picture.
Judicial and critical sites
Fill the gap where planting blocks the view, and cross-check a high-voltage grid or a tension fence.
Mounting, earth, and the yearly check
- Confirm supply range and polarity before power-up. Measure bus voltage and breaker capacity if the label is unclear.
- Use shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end, and keep long runs out of the same bundle as high-power cable.
- In the lab, prove read and write both ways and a threshold trip against the platform, then take the radar to site.
- Outdoors, drainage and breathing come first. Inspect seal faces on a round, and keep lightning-earth resistance inside the local code.
- In service, spot-check a sample and archive the logs every 12 months.
What ships with the order
You get a hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can add a sample review and an inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers in the shipment.
