Selection at a glance
- Built for SIL2 architectures such as emergency stop, a safety gate, and critical process interlocks, with dual-channel diagnostics and force-guided outputs.
- Safety Ethernet such as FSoE or PROFIsafe is chosen by model, so servo STO, a light curtain, and the e-stop loop can share one certification file.
- TÜV-route documents, version traceability, and a change-record template support CE and machinery-safety compliance for the finished machine.
- For high-risk stations in pressing, chemicals, and lithium-battery lines. It can sit in its own zone beside a standard PLC, so the safety loop stays simpler.
Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink safety SIL2 PLC is for functional-safety loop design. Safety inputs and outputs, diagnostics, and the bus safety protocol share one programming environment, so there is less hardwired relay logic and less risk when the loop is changed later.
SimtoLink can supply a safety-concept note, help with a PFHd estimate, and a FAT/SAT checklist. A volume project can ship with motion control and a standard PLC, with one cabinet ground and one document pack.
Reliability and field fit
On electrical safety and EMC, the PLC is tested to the IEC 61000-4 level-4 items that apply. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout cut ground-loop and common-mode risk. Outdoor or coastal sites can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Parameters can be loaded in bulk, thresholds can be set, and event video or waveform records can be kept where the ordered model supports them. Configuration and firmware update over the air. On site, run a power-on self-test, sync time on the link, and spot-check a sample. For metering or safety use, SimtoLink helps prepare a third-party metrology submission and supplies type-test documents.
Key hardware parameters
Figures below are a typical SIL2 PLC build, for selection and for a technical schedule in a bid. For a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers shipped with the unit govern.

Typical applications
How this PLC usually lands on site, for selection and for joint acceptance:
Presses and forming machines
Two-hand control, a light curtain, a safety door, and the die zone interlock, and the safety outputs drop the clutch and the hydraulic valve manifold.
Chemical and hazardous-chemical sections
The reactor, the transfer line, and the relief valve interlock, covering diagnostic coverage and bypass control on the critical safety loops.
AGVs and collaborative zones
An area scanner, a fence gate, and drive STO work together, so a person entering the zone slows or stops the motion.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Confirm supply range and polarity before power is applied. Measure bus voltage and breaker rating if the drawing is unclear.
- Use shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end, and keep it off long shared routes with high-power cables.
- In the lab, finish a two-way read and write and a threshold trip against the platform before the PLC moves to the machine.
- An outdoor mount needs drainage and airflow. Recheck the seal. Lightning-earth resistance must meet the local code.
- In service, spot-check a sample and archive logs every 6 months.
Ordering, documentation, and support
SimtoLink can issue the hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and example projects. Volume orders can include a sample review and an inspector at the plant. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents packed with the PLC.
