Selection at a glance
- An IEC 61131-3 runtime runs on an x86/ARM industrial computer and can share the box with virtual machines or containers.
- Multi-core deterministic scheduling and NTP/IEEE 1588 time sync fit a software-defined line and an edge-fusion layout.
- Fewer kinds of dedicated hardware. One image set and a CI/CD flow keep the control-logic versions.
- SimtoLink can supply a resource-isolation note and a CPU-affinity template for the real-time cores.
Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink soft-PLC runtime controller is for IT/OT projects. The PLC runtime is a managed service on an edge server or an industrial PC, so monitoring, security, and backup from enterprise IT can be reused while the control cycle stays real-time.
SimtoLink supplies notes for joining container orchestration, logs, and an alarm platform. On a critical line, split real-time and non-real-time cores and use a redundant network.
Reliability and field fit
Electrical safety and EMC coverage includes the salt-spray and vibration type tests that apply. Ports are protected against surge and reversed polarity. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout reduce ground-loop and common-mode interference. Outdoor or coastal sites can use a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Parameters can be loaded in bulk, thresholds can be set, and event video or waveform records can be kept where the ordered model supports them. Configuration and firmware update over the air. On site, run a power-on self-test, sync time on the link, and spot-check a sample. For metering or safety use, SimtoLink helps prepare a third-party metrology submission and supplies type-test documents.
Key hardware parameters
Ratings below are a typical soft-PLC runtime build, for selection and for a technical clause in a tender. For a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the documents shipped with the unit govern.

Typical applications
How this controller usually lands on site, for selection and for joint acceptance:
Software-defined line
A changeover pushes a container image and a PLC project, so the stop is shorter and the audit is the same every time.
Edge fusion node
Vision inference, a protocol gateway, and PLC logic share the box, so the cabinet uses fewer rack units.
Remote stations brought together
Several virtual machines hold the logic for several lines. Disaster recovery and snapshots follow the data-center rule.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Confirm supply range and polarity before power-up. Measure bus voltage and breaker rating if the drawing is unclear.
- Use shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end, and keep it off long shared routes with high-power cables.
- In the lab, finish a two-way read and write and a threshold trip against the platform before the controller goes to site.
- An outdoor mount needs drainage and airflow. Recheck the seal. Lightning-earth resistance must meet the local code.
- In long service, spot-check a sample and archive logs every 24 months.
Ordering, documentation, and support
Ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and example projects. A volume order can include a sample review and an inspector at the plant. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers packed with the unit.
