Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink tool-cabinet RFID tag closes the loop on whether a tool is in its place, or out on loan, for machining, maintenance, and power operations. It can be stuck on or set into a compartment, a gauge box, or an insulating-rod rack, and works with a cabinet reader or a handheld gun for an inventory within seconds, a reminder when a loan is overdue, and a named owner. Selection turns on read range next to metal, how the tag wears in oil, and a one-to-one map from UID to asset code.
Against an EAM, an MES, or a work-order system, define the states checked out, in the cabinet, sent for test, and scrapped. SimtoLink can supply a write-code rule, a cabinet antenna layout, and a data template for issuing tags in volume.
Reliability and field fit
On electrical safety and EMC, the tag has passed the related CCC test items. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout cut ground-loop and common-mode risk. Outdoor or coastal sites can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Settings can be imported in bulk, thresholds can be written, and models that include the feature can keep event video or a waveform. Configuration and firmware go out over the air. On site, close acceptance in three steps: a power-on self-test, time sync, and a sample check. Where the tag is used for metering or safety, SimtoLink helps send it to a third-party metrology institute and provides the type-test papers.
Key hardware parameters
The table is a typical build of this tag, for selection and for a technical clause in a tender. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version is quoted separately; ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers shipped with the tag govern.

Typical applications
Four forms this tag usually takes, for design and for judging the return:
Machining and assembly lineside
Loan records for cutters, fixtures, and gauges, so the wrong tool is taken less often and fewer tools go missing.
Power and rail maintenance
Safety tools stay in a fixed place, and the test interval and certificate status raise a linked alarm.
Aviation MRO
Special toolboxes and spares cabinets are checked in place, for airworthiness and for an audit sample.
Construction general contractor
The site tool room is counted with the cabinet closed at night. A tool that leaves when it should not is flagged, and the subcontractor is named.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Confirm supply range and polarity before power is applied. When needed, measure bus voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter.
- Use shielded twisted pair for the communications cable, ground the shield at one end, and do not run it for a long distance in the same bundle as high-power cable.
- On the first connection, prove bidirectional read and write and a threshold trip against the platform in the lab, then take the tag to site.
- Outdoors, put drainage and ventilation first. Inspect the seal face on rounds. Lightning-protection earth resistance has to meet the local code.
- While the tag stays in service, take a sample check and archive the logs every 6 months.
Ordering, documentation, and support
SimtoLink can supply the hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and an example project for this tag. Volume orders can include a sample review and inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers shipped with the tag.
