Smart Wearable Solution

Channel distribution, paid data services, health and activity data, and standalone eSIM connectivity for smartwatches and bands

Solution Overview

The smart wearable solution is built for makers and channel partners of smartwatches and smart bands. Over IoT, it reports health and activity data, sells add-on subscriptions, and gives a watch its own eSIM connection. The category covers adult sports watches, children's watches, watches for older adults, and health bands. Children's watches and watches for older adults have to work without a phone nearby—for calls, location, and SOS—so cellular is not optional.

An eSIM or IoT SIM covers channel distribution (online and offline, export, e-commerce, and operator channels), paid consumer data services (health reports, activity analysis, memberships, and add-on services), health and activity reporting (heart rate, sleep, exercise, blood oxygen, and body temperature), and a connection of its own (children's and older-adult watches on eSIM for data, calls, location, and SOS). Each device uses 30–200 MB a month. Children's watches and watches for older adults use more, because they stay online on their own and report location often. Multi-operator coverage and global roaming serve devices sold outside China.

Children's Watches, Watches for Older Adults, and a Standalone eSIM

Children's watches and watches for older adults have to connect without a phone. A children's watch handles calls, location, SOS, and a geofence, and a parent watches from an app. A watch for an older adult handles health monitoring, fall detection, SOS, and care from family at a distance. These devices cannot lean on a phone hotspot. They need an eSIM or an IoT SIM of their own. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is pushing eSIM use, and all three major operators support wearables with either a separate number or one number shared across two devices.

Data use splits by product. A children's watch uses about 50–150 MB a month, for location reports, calls, and data sync. A watch for an older adult uses about 30–100 MB, for health data, location, and SOS. A sports watch uses about 30–80 MB, for activity tracks, health data, and OTA. Devices sold abroad need global roaming. SimtoLink's international IoT coverage spans 200+ countries, which is what an export brand needs on the connection.

Implementation Notes

Children's watches and watches for older adults need a link to the operator's eSIM platform, for over-the-air number writing and plan management. Health data has to follow the Personal Information Protection Law and the Data Security Law. Encrypt it in transit, and collect it only with the user's authorization. Sports watches and health bands can connect to a health cloud and a fitness app, so the data stays in one loop and add-on services can be sold. SimtoLink supplies eSIM and IoT SIMs, a data pool, and APIs, with multi-operator coverage and global roaming.

Core Functional Modules

Connectivity for smart wearables, across the products that need it

Channel distribution

Online and offline, export, e-commerce, and operator channels. Devices can be activated, assigned to a channel, and counted in sales, so the channel is managed in software.

Data services and add-ons

Health reports, activity analysis, memberships, and add-on services. Customers can subscribe by feature or by term, which opens after-sales revenue on the device.

A connection of its own

eSIM or IoT SIM, so a children's watch or a watch for an older adult can reach the network, place calls, report location, and send SOS on its own. One number on two devices, or a separate number, can both be supported.

Data reporting

Heart rate, sleep, exercise, location, and OTA. The feed can connect to a health cloud and a fitness app, so readings and the service stay in one loop.

Typical Use Cases

Children's watches

Standalone eSIM for location, calls, and SOS, with a parent watching from an app

Watches for older adults

Health monitoring, fall detection, SOS, and care from family at a distance

Sports watches

Activity data, GPS tracks, health reports, and memberships

Health bands

Heart rate, sleep, and blood oxygen, reported to a health cloud

Connectivity Notes

Each wearable uses 30–200 MB a month, spent mainly on health and activity reports, OTA updates, and standalone use on children's watches and watches for older adults. SimtoLink supplies eSIM and IoT SIMs, a data pool, and APIs into a health cloud, with multi-operator coverage and global roaming. Those watches need either a number of their own or one number shared across two devices, which means a connection to the operator's eSIM platform. The same feed can reach a health platform, a fitness app, and a family-care platform, so the data and the service stay together.
