Aging-friendly Home Solution

Home safety, health monitoring, and emergency calls, so older adults can live at home with more confidence

Solution Overview

The aging-friendly home solution is built for older adults who live at home. Over IoT, it watches the home for safety, collects health data, places an emergency call, and keeps family in the picture. As the population ages, living at home has become the usual arrangement. Someone living alone still faces falls, sudden illness, a gas leak, or flooding, and adult children cannot see what is happening. That leaves a gap in care.

A cellular or 4G link covers home safety (fall detection, gas leaks, flooding, and smoke alarms), health data (blood pressure, blood glucose, sleep, and heart rate, with reminders), a one-touch emergency call (a call, voice intercom, and notice to family, the property office, or emergency services), and family care (remote video, medication reminders, and alerts when something looks wrong). Devices sit in the background and draw little power, so an older adult does not have to learn a complicated routine. The same feed can reach a care-service platform, the community, and a hospital, so an emergency and the health record stay in one loop.

Aging Policy and Why Home Support Is Needed

The National Bureau of Statistics reports that in 2024 China's population aged 60 and above passed 280 million, about 20%, and more than 100 million of them live alone or in empty-nest households. The State Council's 14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of National Aging Programs and the Elderly Care Service System explicitly supports aging at home and smart elderly care, and it encourages aging-friendly smart products. The Ministry of Civil Affairs is advancing home-based care beds and aging-friendly home renovation, and IoT monitoring devices are part of that work.

An older household often has no stable Wi-Fi, and adult children are not there to set one up, so 4G is what makes a device work as soon as it is plugged in. An emergency call cannot wait: a fall or a sudden illness has to reach family or an emergency center within seconds. SimtoLink supplies 4G IoT SIMs and a low-power NB-IoT option, with links to a care-service platform, the community, a hospital, and an emergency center, for round-the-clock watching and a fast response.

Which Devices, and How They Connect

Safety monitors—falls, gas, flooding, and smoke—use NB-IoT or 4G Cat.1. They draw little power and little data, about 10–30 MB a month. Health devices—blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, and sleep bands—use Bluetooth plus a gateway, or 4G directly, and report about 20–50 MB a month. Emergency calls and video intercom need 4G. One call is about 2–5 MB, and a month runs about 50–150 MB. A data pool lets several devices share one allowance, which keeps the cost in range. Health data is sensitive personal information and has to follow the Personal Information Protection Law: encrypt it in transit, and collect it only with the user's authorization.

Core Functional Modules

What aging at home needs, from a fall alert to a medication reminder

Safety monitoring

Fall detection, plus gas, flood, and smoke alarms. Millimeter-wave radar and AI vision can detect a fall. Gas and flood sensors watch continuously, and an exception is pushed to family and the property office.

Health monitoring

Blood pressure, blood glucose, and sleep, collected and reminded. Smart blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, and sleep bands can report to a health cloud, and an out-of-range reading prompts medication or a clinic visit.

Emergency call

One touch to call, voice intercom, and notice to family. An emergency button or a voice wake-up can reach adult children, the property office, and an emergency center, so help starts quickly.

Family care

Remote video, medication reminders, and alerts when something looks wrong. Adult children can check status from an app, see a medication reminder, and hear when activity looks unusual.

Typical Use Cases

Living alone

Adult children are away for long stretches, and the person at home needs safety and health watching around the clock

Chronic conditions

Hypertension and diabetes need ongoing blood pressure and blood glucose checks, plus medication reminders

Community care

Community care stations and day centers, working with the neighborhood

Medical and care together

Linked to hospitals and care institutions, so health data is shared and an emergency can be answered

Connectivity Notes

An aging-friendly home uses 50–200 MB a month, spent mainly on safety alerts, health reports, video calls, and remote control. SimtoLink supplies 4G IoT SIMs, a data pool, and APIs into a care-service platform. Devices are built for low power, and some sensors use NB-IoT. The same link can reach a care-service platform, the community, a hospital, and an emergency center, so a response and the health record stay together.
