Smart Lighting Solution

Dimming, scenes, and occupancy sensing for comfortable light that uses less energy

Solution Overview

Lighting is about 20–30% of a building's electricity use. In China, lighting consumes more than 600 billion kWh a year. Conventional circuits are switched in coarse steps, cannot follow demand, have no scene logic, and depend on people to find faults, so a large share of that energy is wasted. The Green Building Evaluation Standard from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and national standard GB 50034, Standard for Lighting Design of Buildings, both set requirements for energy and visual comfort. This solution uses IoT control so lighting is finer, scene-based, and automatic, with lower energy use and a more comfortable visual result.

It covers homes, offices, retail, industry, roads, and landscape lighting. Smart luminaires, dimming drivers, sensors, and gateways support continuous dimming, color-temperature changes, one-touch scenes, occupancy and daylight sensing, schedules, and sunrise–sunset logic. DALI, Zigbee, Bluetooth Mesh, and LoRa connect through the IoT platform for central monitoring, fault alarms, and energy analysis. In practice, energy use falls 30–50%, lamps last longer, and maintenance costs drop.

Where Energy Is Lost, and How to Start

Commercial buildings and industrial parks often leave lights on outside working hours. Road lighting follows a fixed clock and does not respond to traffic or weather. Offices rarely offer human-centric light, which shows up in comfort and in how people work. Start with the heavy loads: underground garages, corridors, and roads. Add sensors and a gateway in stages rather than replacing every fitting at once. Tie lighting into the BMS so it can follow air conditioning and blinds. Choose products that follow DALI-2 and Zigbee 3.0 so the devices can work together.

Core Capabilities

From one luminaire to the lighting system

Dimming and Color Temperature

Brightness runs continuously from 0 to 100%. Some luminaires also shift color temperature from 2700 K to 6500 K. The schedule can raise color temperature in an office by day and lower it at night, which is the basis of human-centric lighting.

Scenes and Groups

Presets cover receiving guests, film, reading, sleep, meetings, and display, each on one command. Groups follow area, floor, or function, and can move with blinds and air conditioning so the room acts as one space.

Occupancy and Daylight

PIR or millimeter-wave sensors turn lights on when someone arrives and off after a delay when the space is empty. A daylight sensor trims the electric light so illuminance stays steady and the room is not over-lit.

Schedules and Policies

Schedules cover clock times, sunrise and sunset, and holidays. Road lighting can step down by traffic and by time of night. Retail lighting can switch between trading and closed modes so light follows the building, not a fixed level.

Typical Use Cases

Homes

Scene lighting for living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens

Offices

Desks, meeting rooms, and shared areas

Retail and Hospitality

Atmosphere lighting for malls, showrooms, and hotels

Roads

Per-luminaire control and dimming to demand

How the System Connects

Protocols: DALI-2 is the professional dimming bus. Zigbee and Bluetooth Mesh suit wireless rooms. LoRa suits roads and large sites where the link must stay low-power over a wide area. The gateway translates protocols and talks to the cloud.

Devices: Smart luminaires carry the driver and the radio. Dimming drivers retrofit existing fittings. Sensors cover occupancy, daylight, temperature, and humidity. Control is from a wall panel or an app.

Platform: Device management, scene setup, policy logic, energy totals, and fault alarms. The same platform can sit beside a BMS, a building-control system, or a smart-park platform.
