What the RTU Sends Up

The SimtoLink battery BMS remote-upload RTU reads CAN and RS485 BMS messages and packs SOC, SOH, cell voltage, and temperature. Alarms are pushed by severity, and a short waveform can be cached. It is used on storage cabinets, battery-swap stations, and UPS backup systems.

TLS and a device certificate protect the identity and the integrity of the link to the cloud. SimtoLink keeps a BMS protocol map for each vendor and a point template for the cloud platform, so the storage EPC and the maintenance team spend less time on joint commissioning.

Reliability on Site

CCC test items are on file for electrical safety and EMC. Ports carry surge and reverse-polarity protection. Ground is reinforced and the layout is zoned, which keeps ground loops and common-mode noise down. Outdoor or coastal orders can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.

Parameters can be imported in a batch. Threshold rules, event video, and waveform capture depend on the model. Configuration and firmware update over OTA. Acceptance on site is a power-on self-test, time sync on the link, and a spot check of sampled values. For metering or a safety use, SimtoLink helps with a third-party metrology submission and supplies the type-test file.

Key Hardware Parameters

The rows are the usual build, for selection and for a tender schedule. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version is quoted from the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers in the box govern.

Typical Use Cases

Four places this RTU shows up when you are sketching the scheme and judging payback:

Grid-Side and C&I Storage

Rack-level status goes to the dispatcher or an aggregator, which is the telemetry a grid-connection rule usually asks for.

Swap Stations and Truck Battery Bays

It picks up several PACK BMS types quickly, for bay management and the thermal-runaway alarm path.

Data-Center Backup Power

Diesel generators and the UPS join the power-and-environment platform, and battery-health trend is on the screen.

PV, Storage, and Charging Microgrid

Time stays aligned with the PCS and the meter, which is what energy management and settlement need.

Before It Goes on the Pole

  • Confirm supply range and polarity before power-up. If the drawing is doubtful, meter the bus voltage and the breaker rating.
  • CAN and RS485 use shielded twisted pair, grounded at one end, and they do not share a long bundle with high-power cable.
  • In the lab, prove two-way traffic and a threshold trip with the platform, then take the RTU to site.
  • Outdoors, keep drainage and ventilation open, inspect the sealing face, and hold lightning-protection earth resistance to the local code.
  • In service, spot-check a sample and archive logs every 12 months.

Ordering, Documentation, and Support

SimtoLink includes the hardware specification, an outline drawing, a wiring table, and a sample project. A volume order can add a sample review and a factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents shipped with the RTU.
