Where the Module Fits
The SimtoLink BeiDou/GNSS dual-mode positioning module is for embedded IoT on vehicles, agricultural machinery, and asset trackers. The figures on this page are what you clarify at selection, cite in a bid clause, and compare when the module goes on a board. It acquires several constellations and can run a low-power policy, and it keeps a usable position fix across a wide temperature range and in a vehicle electromagnetic environment. SimtoLink can supply a reference design and antenna advice for volume SMT and for the certification plan.
UART is standard, and RS485 is one of the optional industrial interfaces, so the module can sit on an MCU, a gateway, or a vehicle host. SimtoLink includes an NMEA parse example and driver notes. A volume build can add silkscreen, a harness, and help with the certification file.
Reliability on Site
The module has passed the relevant CCC items for electrical safety and EMC. Surge and reverse-polarity protection sit on the ports. A heavier ground and a partitioned layout reduce ground-loop and common-mode risk. Outdoor and coastal orders can step up the ingress rating and add an anti-corrosion coat.
Software imports parameters in bulk, applies threshold policies, and can record events or waveforms depending on the model. OTA covers configuration and firmware. The suggested site check is a power-on self-test, time sync on the link, and a sample of readings. For metering or a safety-related use, SimtoLink helps with a third-party metrology submission and the type-test file.
Key Hardware Parameters
These rows are the usual configuration, for sizing the module and for a tender schedule. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe variant is a separate request. Ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the family can differ a little. Follow the nameplate and the papers shipped with the module.

Typical Use Cases
Four ways this module usually lands, for the scheme and for a payback check:
Vehicles and mobile terminals
Built into vehicle terminals, handheld line-patrol instruments, and logistics PDAs. BeiDou/GPS dual mode shortens the first fix and stays available when the sky is partly blocked.
Emergency and disaster response
Position reports from rescue vehicles, drones, and dismounted kits, where a critical task has to use the domestic constellation and keep a second constellation in reserve.
Wearables and asset tracking
A low-power module on a personnel card, a pet tag, or an outdoor asset tag, paired with a cellular or LoRa return path for a long-endurance track.
Embedded gateways and OBD
Soldered onto an edge gateway, a T-Box, or an industrial tablet so time and the coordinate reference come from one place.
Mounting, Ground, and Service
- Confirm supply range and polarity before power-on. Check the bus voltage and the breaker rating with a meter when you are not sure.
- Run communications on shielded twisted pair, bond the shield at one end only, and keep it off long parallel runs with high-power cables.
- First commissioning belongs in the lab: bidirectional read and write, plus a threshold trip against the platform, then the move to site.
- Outdoors, drainage and ventilation come first. Walk the seal faces on a schedule, and keep lightning-protection earth resistance inside the local rule.
- Once it is in service, sample-check readings and archive logs every 12 months.
Ordering, Documentation, and Support
SimtoLink includes the hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can take a sample review and an in-plant inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers in the box.
