Product Overview and Engineering Role

The SimtoLink dual-spectrum thermal imaging core puts visible-light detail and the infrared heat map on one optical axis and one clock. It is for the first sign of trouble on a night patrol, the start of smoke, and equipment running hot, and it can sit inside a PTZ, a gimbal, or a UAV pod. On the core, shutter correction, NUC, and a false-color mapping pipeline are included, with ROI temperature statistics and an SDK output, so a VMS, a fire IoT platform, or a power-inspection system can take the stream.

In a bid, state NETD, lens FOV, frame rate, and the power budget, and write the explosion-proof or corrosion-resistant housing interface and the temperature rise in continuous operation into the Hardware Specification. Substations and energy-storage sites can take a high-temperature alarm template and a note on where the third-party test report is filed.

Reliability and Site Conditions

On electrical safety and EMC, the core has passed the CCC test items that apply. Ports have surge and reverse-polarity protection. A reinforced ground and a partitioned layout keep ground loops and common-mode noise down. Outdoor or coastal sites can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.

Parameters can be loaded in batches, thresholds can be set, and event video or waveforms can be stored when the model allows it. OTA carries configuration and firmware. Site acceptance is three checks: a power-on self-test, time alignment on the communications link, and a spot check of samples. For metering or safety duty, SimtoLink helps with submission to a third-party metrology institute and with the type-test file.

Key Hardware Parameters

The figures below are this core in a typical build, for selection and for the technical clauses of a bid. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant is available from SimtoLink with the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the same family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers shipped with the unit govern.

Parameter Specification Remarks
Spectrum Visible light + long-wave infrared Coaxial, synchronized
Thermal resolution Typical 640×512 class (by order) Lens can be specified
NETD Typical ≤50 mK (by order) Depends on ambient temperature
Communications LVDS / USB / Ethernet (by order) SDK output
Supply DC 12V, continuously powered Shutter correction / NUC
Output False color / temperature matrix + visible light ROI statistics
Storage Host side / onboard eMMC (by order) Depends on the integration
Explosion protection Non-explosion-proof core (typical) Complete-unit enclosure is separate
Operating temperature -17~55 ℃ Indoor and outdoor
Standard IEC / power enterprise standard (by order) Project acceptance

Typical Deployments

Four ways this core is usually installed, for laying out a design and for judging the payback.

Substations and Distribution

Walk the joints and disconnect switches for overtemperature, so crews reach for a handheld infrared thermometer less often.

Warehouses and Hazardous-Chemical Stores

Watch smoldering and local temperature-rise trends, and tie the alarm to the fire response plan.

Perimeter and Critical Points

At night and in low light, confirm a person or a vehicle together with a heat source.

Energy-Storage Stations and Battery Compartments

Screen for early signs of thermal runaway at PACK level, and keep the video as evidence.

Installation, Grounding, and Maintenance

  • Before power-up, confirm the supply range and polarity. If the feed is uncertain, check bus voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter.
  • Use shielded twisted pair for the communications run, bond the shield at one end, and keep it out of long bundles with high-power cable.
  • For first go-live, prove two-way read and write and the threshold triggers against the platform in the lab, then move the core to site.
  • Outdoors, drainage and airflow come first. Inspect the sealing faces on a schedule, and hold lightning-protection earth resistance to the local code.
  • In continuous service, spot-check samples and archive logs every 6 months.

Ordering, Documentation, and Support

SimtoLink supplies the hardware specification, an outline drawing, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can include a sample review and inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents shipped with the core.
