Product Overview and Engineering Role
The SimtoLink infrared and visible fusion terminal registers thermal and visible images in one view and overlays them, for night patrol, thermal hazards on equipment, and electrical temperature rise. False color, a high-temperature alarm, and drawn zones help a technician find a hot spot quickly.
ONVIF and other standard video outputs are supported, and recording can stay on the edge. A wide-temperature housing and anti-glare glass suit outdoor poles, power rooms, and extra cameras in a substation. SimtoLink can advise on tilt, measurement distance, and emissivity compensation, which shortens commissioning with an NVR or a combined platform.
Reliability and Site Conditions
On electrical safety and EMC, this terminal has cleared the relevant salt-spray and vibration type tests. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout hold down ground loops and common-mode interference. Outdoor or coastal sites can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Parameters load in bulk, threshold policies can be set, and event video or waveforms can be kept, depending on the model. Configuration and firmware go out by OTA. Before sign-off, run a power-on self-test, sync time on the link, and spot-check a sample. For metering or safety use, SimtoLink helps submit the unit to a third-party metrology institute and provides the type-test documents.
Key Hardware Parameters
These figures are the typical build of this terminal, for selection and for a technical clause in a tender. For a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant, ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the same family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers shipped with the terminal govern.

Typical Deployments
Four ways this terminal shows up in a project, for scheme design and for judging payback:
Power rooms and switchgear
Busbars, contacts, and cable joints are watched for a rising temperature. A high-temperature pre-alarm opens a work order and a video check.
PV plants and step-up areas
Hot spots and abnormal heat around combiner boxes and inverters are checked, and the picture is still useful at night when visible light is poor.
Warehouses and cold stores
Heat exchangers and fan motors on the refrigeration plant are warned before they overheat, which cuts unplanned stops and damaged goods.
Forest fire watch and border patrol
The two spectra help pick out smoke and people, so a night watch that uses only visible light misses less.
Installation, Grounding, and Maintenance
- Check the supply range and polarity before you apply power. Where the bus is shared, confirm voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter.
- Use shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end, and do not lay it for a long distance in the same bundle as high-power cables.
- Before the first site cutover, prove bidirectional read and write and a threshold trip against the platform in the lab.
- Outdoors, leave a path for drainage and for air, inspect the gasket faces on a round, and keep the lightning earth resistance inside the local limit.
- While the terminal stays in service, spot-check a sample and archive the logs every 12 months.
Ordering, Documentation, and Support
SimtoLink ships a hardware specification, an outline drawing, a wiring table, and a sample project with the terminal. Volume orders can include a sample review and an inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers that travel with the unit.
