Product overview and engineering role

The SimtoLink millimeter-wave radar point-cloud processor clusters points, tracks targets, and detects micro-motion on the device. Compared with some camera designs, it depends less on light and keeps more of the scene private. It fits perimeters, cabins, and small traffic scenes. A target list leaves over CAN or Ethernet at low latency, so a PLC, a domain controller, or a security panel can use it directly.

An industrial clock and a watchdog are there for 7×24 running. SimtoLink can supply guidance on mounting height, tilt, and nuisance-alarm tuning, and can combine the radar with video and infrared in a multi-sensor design.

Reliability and field fit

Electrical safety and EMC coverage includes the CCC items that apply to this unit. Ports are protected against surge and reversed polarity. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout reduce ground-loop and common-mode interference. Outdoor or coastal sites can use a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.

Parameters can be loaded in bulk, thresholds can be set, and event video or waveform records can be kept where the ordered model supports them. Configuration and firmware update over the air. For acceptance on site, run a power-on self-test, sync time over the communications link, and spot-check a sample. For metering or safety use, SimtoLink helps prepare a submission to a third-party metrology institute and supplies type-test documents.

Key hardware parameters

Ratings below are for a typical build, for selection and for technical clauses in tender documents. For a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the documents shipped with the unit govern.

Typical applications

Four common deployments, for solution design and for judging return on investment:

Campus and critical perimeters

Tracks intrusion and climbing on either side of a fence, including rain, fog, and night, and cuts the misses that cameras have in those conditions.

In-vehicle and cabin monitoring

Occupancy and micro-motion support seat-belt reminders and left-behind-object alerts, subject to the regulation and the vehicle.

Junctions and low-speed traffic

A target list of pedestrians, bicycles, and slow vehicles is available to a signal controller or an edge policy module.

AGVs and collaborative robots

Close-in warnings for moving obstacles and people, as a sensing channel alongside lidar and vision.

Installation, grounding, and maintenance

  • Before power is applied, confirm the supply range and polarity. If the drawing is unclear, measure bus voltage and breaker rating.
  • Communications cable should be shielded twisted pair, grounded at one end, and kept off long shared routes with high-power cables.
  • In the lab, finish a two-way read and write and a threshold trip against the platform before the unit is moved outside.
  • Outdoor mounts need a way for water to leave and air to move. Recheck the seal. Lightning-earth resistance must meet the local rule.
  • While the unit stays in service, spot-check a sample and archive logs every 12 months.

Ordering, documentation, and support

Ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and example projects. Volume orders can include a sample review and an inspector at the plant. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents packed with the unit.
