Four remotes for the station
The SimtoLink power four-remote RTU is for substations, switching stations, and ring-main units. It covers telemetry, status, control, and setpoint, and it stamps SOE at the millisecond. Digital inputs and outputs and DC sampling take a configurable point list. IEC 60870-5-104 and Modbus are there so a regional dispatch desk or a control center can take the unit.
A dual supply, surge protection, an encrypted tunnel, and certificate management meet secondary-system security. SimtoLink supplies a four-remote point-list template, a master-station joint-test case, and a note on the checkback strategy. Redundant communications and remote parameter lockout are available by order code.
CCC in a secondary cabinet
The relevant CCC items cover electrical safety and EMC. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout cut ground loops and common-mode noise. Outdoor and coastal orders can take a higher ingress rating and an anti-corrosion coating.
Parameters import in a batch. Threshold policies, and event video or waveform capture, follow the model. Configuration and firmware both update over OTA. Close the site with a power-on self-test, time sync, and a sampling spot check. If the RTU sits on metering or a safety function, SimtoLink helps with a third-party metrology submission and the type-test file.
Key specifications
These are the typical hardware figures for this RTU, for selection and for a tender clause. A wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant is a separate order. Ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers shipped with the unit govern.

Stations it usually serves
Four layouts, for the scheme and for a payback note:
Ring-main units and pad-mount substations
Current and voltage on the incomers and feeders, switch position, and fault indication. Control open and close, and line the SOE up with the dispatch sequence.
Small switching stations
Roll several bays into one report, with a primary and a standby link and time sync, so a local utility access test can be met.
The edge of a renewable collector station
Step-up-station auxiliaries sit beside the interconnection meter, and the four-remote data goes to the control center or regional dispatch.
A works or mine grid
Tie it to the park EMS for demand and reactive-power policy, and keep a local closed loop.
Power, cable, and the half-year check
- Confirm the supply range and polarity before the RTU is powered. If the panel label is unclear, measure bus voltage and breaker capacity.
- Use shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end, and keep a long run out of the high-power bundle.
- On the bench, prove read and write both ways and trip a threshold against the platform before the RTU goes to the station.
- Outdoors, drainage and a vent come first. Walk the seal faces, and set lightning-earth resistance to the local code.
- In service, take a sample and file the log every 6 months.
Documents with the order
SimtoLink includes a hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can add a sample review and an inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers in the box.
