Product overview

The vehicle shock-mount bracket enclosure pairs rubber or wire-rope isolators with a rigid bracket. It holds a gateway, a recorder, or a controller on an engineering vehicle, a farm machine, or a special chassis, so random vibration and shock do less damage to a disk and to connectors.

Isolator stiffness follows the center of gravity and the mounting attitude. The table gives a typical static load. Road-spectrum and life-test data are in the hardware specification. On a converted vehicle, check the strength of the fixing points.

Reliability on the chassis

A long run of bumps lets the isolators creep and the fasteners loosen. Inspect by mileage or by hours.

In a hot engine bay, watch plastic parts and grease as they age. SimtoLink recommends a cushion and a strain-relief tie for an SSD and an RF module.

Key specifications

Figures below are a typical build, for selection and for a tender clause. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version is in the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers shipped with the enclosure govern.

Typical applications

Four fits that come up often, for the design and for a payback check:

Dump and mining trucks

A shock-mounted home for positioning, load, and video gear.

Autosteer on farm machines

The controller and the differential radio stay isolated from field vibration.

Emergency and special vehicles

The communications hub and edge storage stay fixed through a hard brake and off-road running.

Rail works vehicles

The enclosure protects gear that lives with rail shock for a long time.

Installation, grounding, and maintenance

  • Torque the bracket to the chassis frame as the maker specifies, and add a doubler plate if the frame needs it.
  • Leave cable slack and a wear sleeve so isolator travel does not pull a connector off.
  • Replace isolators in pairs. Do not mix stiffness batches.
  • Measure leftover set and fastener torque on a schedule, and note any new noise.
  • When the vehicle is washed, keep high-pressure water off the isolator rubber and the electrical ports.

Ordering, documentation, and support

Ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification, an outline drawing, the wiring table, and a sample project. A volume order can include a sample review and an inspector at the plant. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers packed with the enclosure.
