Industrial protective enclosures and housings
This page is the category index for SimtoLink enclosures and housings, and it points to separate model pages. Series differ in ingress protection (such as an IP rating), explosion-proof certification, material (steel, stainless steel, die-cast aluminum, plastic, and others), and outline dimensions. Use the figures and the specification on the model page. This page only guides selection and states what the family shares.
Typical jobs are cabinet, outdoor, or vehicle mounting for gateways, controllers, acquisition units, power supplies, and communications equipment. Common mounts include DIN rail, wall mount, racks (including 19-inch), and vehicle shock-mount brackets. Options such as a transparent door, extra cooling, EMC shielding, heating, or a fan follow the sub-series and the project. SimtoLink enclosures are already in wide use in water, power, transport, and factory sites.
Sub-series index
Each link opens a model page with the key parameters and selection notes. Do not copy dimensions or ingress ratings from one page onto another model in this category.
What to compare across the family
Once you have a sub-model, check the full parameters on its page. The table sums up the factors that apply across series, so a typical value from one template is not treated as the rating for every category.
| Factor | What it covers | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Protection | IP rating, explosion-proof type, and similar items depend on the certificate and the structure | Use the target model page and the certificate |
| Outdoor | Outdoor, weatherproof, and explosion-proof series differ widely | Check the outdoor weatherproof and explosion-proof pages |
| Structure and mounting | Rail boxes, wall-mount cabinets, rack U positions, and subracks are not interchangeable | Set the mounting surface and the cabinet standard first, then pick the series |
| Material and cooling | Plastic, sheet metal, die-cast aluminum, and finned heat sinks are combined in different ways | Match the environment and the thermal design to the model |
When the job needs DIN rail, wall-mount, or rack mounting, open the matching sub-series from the index above. Fans, transparent doors, EMC gaskets, heaters, and similar options follow that series. SimtoLink supplies a selection table, custom cutouts and silkscreen, and installation guidance.
Typical sites and what they delivered
From wells on a water network to factory floors and highway roadside cabinets, these enclosures cover outdoor and industrial equipment protection. The jobs below show how they were used:
Outdoor wells on a water network
A water utility mounted industrial enclosures in outdoor wells, with a Modbus gateway and a power supply inside. IP65 protection kept the gear safe through the rainy season, and the equipment has run for more than 3 years.
Edge gateways on a factory floor
A factory placed industrial enclosures on the shop floor around edge gateways. Dust and splash protection matches the industrial environment and keeps the equipment running.
Highway roadside cabinets
A highway project put industrial enclosures in roadside cabinets, with a 4G gateway and a power supply inside. IP65 protection keeps the equipment stable in rain, wind, and dust.
Distribution rooms and energy stations
Enclosures inside distribution cabinets and energy-station rooms hold data collectors, protocol converters, and similar equipment, and meet the electrical safety and protection requirements.
Selection and installation
- Size: Size the enclosure to the equipment and the count, and leave room to add gear later.
- Ingress protection: Use IP65 outdoors, in dust, or where water is present. IP54 is enough for an indoor shop floor.
- Environment: In a cold site, use the heated version so the equipment can start. Use a transparent door when operators need to see status.
- Material: Use stainless steel in corrosive sites and in food or pharmaceutical plants. Cold-rolled steel with a powder coat is enough for ordinary sites.
- Installation: Mount the enclosure firmly. Outdoors, plan for wind and lightning. Seal the cable entries so the rating holds, and bond the enclosure to ground.
How a project usually runs
A practical sequence for choosing and installing an industrial enclosure:
When you order, state the site, the equipment size, the ingress rating, and any special needs. SimtoLink supplies a selection table and custom work, including cutouts and added brackets.
Support
SimtoLink provides chassis and enclosure selection and customization; specific dimensions, protection, and accessories are determined by the chosen sub-model. Product manuals, datasheets, and solution quotations are available.
