Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink modular subrack chassis holds pluggable function boards and power supplies inside a 19-inch rack or a custom cabinet. Front and rear wiring, slide-out rails, and a blind-mate bus are supported, so communications, measurement-and-control, and edge-compute gear can ship and grow by subsystem.
Dimensions, slide load, and EMC opening shielding in the table line up with cabinet depth, the air path, and isolation from the neighboring subrack. High-speed backplane and ground-bus design follow the hardware specification.
Reliability and field fit
Insertion force and wear on the guide pins shorten the life of the gold fingers. Use a card extractor, and clean the dust filter on a schedule.
When several subracks share a rack, watch the power-up sequence and how inrush is shared. SimtoLink recommends checking busbar capacity and the breaker trip curve before power is applied.
Key hardware parameters
Ratings in the table are a typical build of this subrack, for a selection note or a clause in a tender. If you need a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ in small ways; the nameplate and the papers in the carton govern.

Typical applications
Four ways this subrack usually lands on a job, for solution design and for judging the return:
Telecom and private-network cabinets
Interface boards, switch boards, and the power subrack are maintained in layers.
Test and measurement chassis
PXI and CompactPCI-style expansion, so the lab and the line can share the same mechanical parts.
Onboard electrical cabinets for rail
Shock-rated slides and the locking hardware meet impact and vibration standards.
Beside a discrete manufacturing line
Function cards plug in by process step, so a failed subsystem can be swapped quickly.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- After the subrack is fully home, lock the slide handle so it cannot walk out in transit.
- Seat and extract boards under the ESD procedure. Clean gold fingers only with the specified solvent.
- Keep backplane power terminals and signal terminals on separate wire runs, so crosstalk and a mis-mate stay unlikely.
- Retighten busbar screws and ground braids on a schedule, and log the spots where temperature rises.
- Before you add cards, check remaining air-path capacity and supply margin so one zone does not overheat.
Ordering, documentation, and support
SimtoLink can issue the hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and an example project for the subrack. Volume orders may include a sample review and inspection on the factory floor. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents packed with the chassis.
