Branches you can see from the desk

Built for cabinet power. Several branch outputs, plus energy and status, go out over SNMP, a web page, or a northbound port, depending on the order code, into DCIM, an environment system, or the operations platform. From there a branch can be opened, a threshold can alarm, and energy can be split by user.

Branch count, outlet style, metering accuracy, and the protocol are in the hardware specification. SimtoLink can supply the OID table, a MIB fragment, and a wiring sketch. Volume orders can change color marks, lead length, and the latch.

Protection and how it is accepted

OVP, OCP, and OTP are on the unit. The mechanics fit a cabinet and the pull of the cables. CCC and similar marks are optional by industry; the nameplate decides.

Match the cabinet inlet to the sum of the branches. Put the management link on its own VLAN or a private network. After it is live, open and close each branch and spot-check the meter, then export an energy baseline on a schedule.

Hardware figures

Typical order, for selection and for a bid clause. For a wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation guide. Order codes can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers in the box decide.

Where the branches are watched

Four cabinets where a metered PDU usually replaces a dumb strip.

Edge rooms

Switches and small hosts are metered by U or by the row head, which is the input a PUE figure needs.

Outdoor cabinets

Branch current and temperature rise are read from the office, so fewer site visits are made.

Line test islands

A station can be switched off and its energy assigned, in step with an MES work order.

A low-voltage closet rebuild

An unmetered PDU is replaced, and the new one joins the building energy system and the alarm center.

Install, ground, and check the meter

  • Crimp the cabinet PE to the PDU ground terminal so the chassis cannot sit live.
  • Match each branch breaker to the plug and cable downstream. Do not parallel branches to raise capacity.
  • Keep the management port off the service network, change the default password, and limit the management subnet.
  • Compare SNMP and the web page with a clamp meter on a schedule, and write down zero drift and CT error.
  • Back up the policy file before a firmware or configuration change. Put a large change in a maintenance window.

Order, documents, and support

SimtoLink supplies the hardware specification, the outline, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can include a sample review and a factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers in the box.
