Two inputs, one load

The module switches two independent inputs, automatically or by hand. If one side loses power, sags, or is taken out for maintenance, the load stays up with no break or only a short break. The usual arrangements are two mains feeds, mains plus a UPS, or two DC buses.

The nameplate and the hardware specification decide the figures. SimtoLink can supply the switch timing waveform, the trigger-level table, and the interlock logic. Volume orders can change contact rating and how the module mounts.

What has to be true before it switches

Electrical safety and EMC items follow industry practice. The switching device has arc suppression and status feedback on the models that include them.

Match phase or polarity and capacity on both inputs, and rehearse the switch. Before it goes into service, measure switch time, circulating current, and temperature rise.

Hardware figures

Typical order, for selection and for a bid clause. For a wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation guide. Order codes can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers in the box decide.

Where the second feed matters

Four places a second input is usually specified.

Data-hall cabinets

A and B PDU feeds, so servers and network gear keep a bus if one side drops.

Control and safety PLCs

The module moves between the main supply and the UPS branch so one lost feed does not drop an interlock.

Outdoor telecom cabinets

It switches between mains and a generator or a solar auxiliary feed, and the transmission gear stays online.

Security paths that cannot go dark

Recorders and the access-control master have two feeds, so a fault is shorter.

Install, ground, and rehearse

  • Size both input breakers and both cables so one side is not overloaded while the other has not taken the load.
  • Confirm the interlock and the maintenance bypass before a switch. Do not short the inputs under load.
  • Rehearse the switch and write down contact wear and temperature rise.
  • Bond PE to the equipotential system so a switch transient does not shift ground potential.
  • Bring the dry contact or the bus status into the operations platform so a bad switch alarms at once.

Order, documents, and support

SimtoLink supplies the hardware specification, the outline, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can include a sample review and a factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers in the box.
