Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink surge-suppression and filter module sits at the supply entrance or beside a sensitive load. It absorbs common-mode and differential surges and holds down conducted EMI. In the same cabinet as a switch-mode supply, a radio, or an acquisition terminal, it cuts false resets and sample drift from induced lightning and switching noise.
Ratings follow the nameplate and the hardware specification. SimtoLink can provide insertion loss, clamp voltage, and a ground-topology note. Volume orders can set the terminal style, the DIN rail, and the surge class.
Reliability and field fit
Electrical safety and EMC follow the surge and immunity clauses of IEC 61000-4. Ports include overvoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature protection (OVP/OCP/OTP).
Keep the PE bond short and heavy so surge current does not return on signal ground. Before commissioning, SimtoLink recommends a check of earth resistance and of the clamp waveform. On outdoor cabinets, look for aging on the MOV or GDT after storms, on builds that use them.
Key hardware parameters
Figures below are a typical build of this filter module, for selection and for a tender clause. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version is a separate quote; ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ in small ways. The nameplate and the papers shipped with the module govern.

Typical applications
Four places this filter module usually lands, for a design note and a return case:
Outdoor communications cabinets
Fitted between the mains entry and the equipment bus, it holds down induced lightning and surges on a long feeder.
Beside a variable-frequency drive
It cuts conducted switching harmonics into a neighboring PLC or instrument.
End-of-row low-voltage cabinets
A cleaner bus for switches and gateways, so a whole row is less likely to drop offline together.
PV and hybrid supplies
With an MPPT charger or an inverter output, it cushions bus spikes and fast transients.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Bond PE to the chassis and the rail on a short equipotential link. Earth resistance has to meet the local lightning code.
- Bundle input and output cables apart, so a high-current loop does not wrap a sensitive signal zone.
- Check ambient temperature against the derating curve for continuous load. Do not run past rated power for long.
- After the storm season, check indicators and the protection parts, and log abnormal clamp counts on models that count them.
- Coordination with the upstream breaker and the downstream supply follows the installation and commissioning guide.
Ordering, documentation, and support
SimtoLink can supply the hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and an example project for this module. Volume orders can include a sample review and inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers packed with the unit.
