What the module supplies
The SimtoLink power module is an industrial 5V/12V/24V DC-DC converter. Input is wide, 9~36V or 18~75V by order code, with OVP, OCP, short-circuit protection, and reverse-polarity protection. It feeds vehicles, outdoor cabinets, and industrial equipment, and it is built for EMC and wide temperature. Isolation or not, the power step, and the terminal style are chosen for the job.
SimtoLink includes a derating curve, a wiring table, and a note on certification options. The same section also has AC-DC DIN-rail supplies, a PoE PD splitter, UPS lithium backup, MPPT, redundant switchover, and surge filtering, so a cabinet can be specified as a set.
Heat, EMI, and the cabinet
The power stage is laid out for heat and for EMI. A metal housing helps conduction cooling and shielding. Electrical-safety and EMC tests follow industry practice, and the ports are built for surge and reverse polarity.
In a sealed or hot cabinet, size continuous current and the air path from the derating curve. Outdoor, salt-spray, or explosion-proof jobs can take potting, a conformal coat, or an intrinsically safe or flameproof pairing. Before it goes live, spot-check the input range, run a full-load temperature rise, and recheck insulation.
Key specifications
The table is a typical build, for selection and for a tender clause. Order codes in the family can differ. The nameplate and the Hardware Specification govern.
| Parameter | Specification | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Typical input | 9~36V DC / 18~75V DC | Wide-voltage bus |
| Typical output | 5V / 12V / 24V | 1~10A steps (by model) |
| Isolation | Non-isolated / isolated 1500VDC~3000VDC | Chosen at order |
| Efficiency | >90% (typical) | See the efficiency curve |
| Protection | OVP/OCP/short circuit/reverse polarity | Automatic recovery or latch, by topology |
| Construction | DIN rail / board mount / metal housing | Earth and airflow per the installation note |
| Certification | CE, FCC, and others (optional) | By order and target market |
Where the module is fitted
Four layouts, for the scheme and for judging payback:
A wide rail for a vehicle terminal
It rides bus swing and a cold crank, and it holds a regulated rail for a T-Box, a vehicle gateway, and a data unit.
Outdoor cabinets and a solar bus
Several loads share a wide DC bus. With MPPT and lithium backup, the cabinet stays up longer.
Industrial gateways and communications gear
It feeds DIN-rail gateways, switches, and serial servers. An isolated build cuts ground loops and common-mode noise.
An isolated rail for edge computing
Edge controllers and acquisition boards get a DC rail that is electrically isolated, so noise immunity and uptime both improve.
Sizing, earth, and a fault
- Size it for load power and continuous current, and leave margin. The input range has to cover the highest and lowest bus voltage on site.
- If the job needs isolation, take the isolated build and check withstand and creepage. Bond PE to system earth.
- In heat or a closed box, use the derating curve. A critical load should add a redundant supply or a UPS or supercapacitor.
- On the order, state input range, output voltage and current, isolation, operating temperature, and mounting. SimtoLink supplies a selection sheet and engineering support.
- On a fault, measure input voltage, output ripple, and load current first. SimtoLink can advise on a swap and on maintenance.
Ordering and support
SimtoLink includes a hardware specification, dimension drawings, a wiring table, and a sample project. Volume orders can add a sample review and an inspection at the factory. Warranty and delivery terms follow the contract and the papers shipped with the module.
