Product overview and engineering role

The SimtoLink solar MPPT charging module is for off-grid sites, hybrid supplies, and DC-bus charging. Under a wide input it tracks the maximum power point and holds a controlled charge curve into a battery or a supercapacitor bank. Coordinated with a BMS and a combiner, it can apply overcharge protection and a dispatch policy. Follow the specification.

Ratings follow the nameplate and the hardware specification. SimtoLink can provide an MPPT algorithm note, temperature compensation, and a line-loss correction table. Volume orders can set the voltage and current band and the ingress rating.

Reliability and field fit

Electrical-safety and EMC test items follow industry practice. The module includes OVP/OCP/OTP and reverse-polarity protection. Outdoor builds strengthen the terminals and the enclosure.

Size the input window from the string open-circuit voltage, ambient temperature, and shading. Before the module goes into service, SimtoLink recommends an open-circuit voltage test, a full-load temperature rise, and a lightning-ground acceptance.

Key hardware parameters

Figures below are a typical build of this charger, for a selection note or a tender clause. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version is a separate quote; ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ in small ways. The nameplate and the papers in the carton govern.

Typical applications

Four ways this charger usually lands on a job, for solution design and for judging the return:

Off-grid homes and base stations

A three-stage charge curve into a lead-acid or lithium bank, so cycle life lasts longer.

Farm and rangeland IoT

Valve actuators, sensors, and a wireless gateway take solar directly, with storage as the buffer.

Shipboard and mobile cabins

The DC bus stays steady under vibration and salt spray.

With a DC combiner

A wide-input DC-DC and a PDU sit with this charger as a multi-stage chain, feeding the auxiliary supply of a PV-plus-storage system.

Installation, grounding, and maintenance

  • String polarity and open-circuit voltage must stay inside the window this module allows. Connect the battery first, then the PV array, as the manual states.
  • Lightning protection and the ground bus have to follow the PV-plant design code. Cable size has to carry the continuous current without an excess temperature rise.
  • Clear the cooling duct and dust on the panel on a schedule. In heat, run on the derating curve.
  • Log daily generation and alarms. If MPPT efficiency drops, check shading and temperature rise at the connectors.
  • Wear insulation while servicing, and do not mate or unmate DC terminals while they are live.

Ordering, documentation, and support

A hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and an example project are available for this charger. Volume orders can include a sample review and inspection on the factory floor. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents packed with the module.
