Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink standard 19-inch rack enclosure gives an IEC 60297 mounting width of 19 inches (about 482.6 mm) and a typical 4U height of 177.8 mm, with a rack inner and a door. Switches, edge gateways, and acquisition controllers of standard depth go in it, so cabling and service stay the same in a data room, a low-voltage closet, or a lab. Depth and U height can change with the order code. Follow the hardware specification.
Material, ingress, cooling, and EMC in the table are there to match the site, the heat the load puts out, and sensitive instruments sharing the rack. Cutouts, silkscreen, and slide length can be set for the job. Follow the hardware specification and the outline drawing.
Reliability and field fit
The die-cast aluminum shell carries heat and still holds its shape. On the IP66 build, watch seal compression and the cable-gland match, so repeated opening does not let water in.
A high-power load needs a check of the natural-convection temperature rise. Add a fan module or a thermal pad if the rise is too high. SimtoLink recommends a full-load temperature-rise test before the cutouts and the wire routes are frozen.
Key hardware parameters
The table is a typical 4U build, for selection and for a tender clause. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version is quoted separately; ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers shipped with the enclosure govern.

Typical applications
Four rooms this rack usually occupies, for solution design and for judging the return:
Equipment rooms and low-voltage racks
Switches, PDUs, and edge servers take standard U positions, with one ground scheme and one cable dress.
Line electrical bays
A PLC, remote I/O, and a protocol gateway share the cabinet, so the jumpers inside stay short.
Inner rack of an outdoor cabinet
A weatherproof outer cabinet plus this 19-inch inner unit keeps salt spray and solar load off the gear.
Test and simulation labs
The structure comes apart and goes back together, so hardware and harness iterations stay practical.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Leave airflow and working room in front of the rack and behind it. Slide rating has to cover the gear plus the harness.
- Bond the PE bus to the cabinet at low impedance. Keep sensitive analog ground and power ground in the zones the drawing shows.
- Match glands and blanking plugs to the cable outside diameter. After the torque is right, spot-check with a water spray.
- The clear door needs UV resistance and a finish that does not scratch. Check the hinges for play on rounds.
- After a cutout is enlarged, touch up the paint and deburr the edge so a cable is not cut and the coating is not broken.
Ordering, documentation, and support
Outline drawings, a wiring table, an example project, and the hardware specification are available for this rack. Volume orders can include a sample review and inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents packed with the enclosure.
