Product overview and engineering role

The SimtoLink transparent-door power monitoring enclosure is for a visual check of distribution circuits. The tempered-glass door shows indicator lamps, meters, and trip state. A monitoring unit, a communications module, and a standby supply can sit inside. It is usually mounted in a floor electrical room or an equipment room.

Ingress and cooling in the table have to match the total power of the devices inside and the room temperature. The door material needs a flame-retardant and impact rating. The hardware specification governs the order.

Reliability and field fit

A failed fan lets temperature rise build up. Plan filter service, and alarm on fan speed and temperature.

Keep sharp tools off the glass door. Agree the door swing and the aisle width with the fire route and the facilities patrol.

Key hardware parameters

The table is a typical build of this enclosure, for selection and for a technical clause in a tender. A wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version is quoted separately; ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers shipped with the enclosure govern.

Typical applications

Four forms this enclosure usually takes, for design and for judging the return:

Distribution room in a commercial complex

The duty person can see a tripped breaker and the alarm lamps through the glass.

Submetering retrofit

Meters and collectors stack in a tight space, and the readings can be checked through the door.

Data-center floor room

A monitoring terminal and communications gear share the box beside the row-end cabinet, on one earth.

Hospitals and laboratories

Mounted in the corridor outside a clean area, so the door is opened less often and contamination risk stays down.

Installation, grounding, and maintenance

  • Power wiring is done only by a licensed electrician, after the supply is isolated and proved dead.
  • Lay communications and power on separate layers. Use a grommet where a cable passes a metal plate.
  • Keep the fan inlet clear of lint and dust. Wash the filter on a schedule.
  • After the glass door closes, check the seal so small animals cannot reach the busbar and short it.
  • If temperature rise looks wrong, check the fan and the air path first, then the load and contact resistance.

Ordering, documentation, and support

SimtoLink can supply the hardware specification, outline drawings, a wiring table, and an example project for this enclosure. Volume orders can include a sample review and inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers shipped with the enclosure.
