Product overview and engineering role
The SimtoLink visitor QR code reader checks the dynamic QR codes and barcodes that a visitor SaaS, a property desk, or a self-registration kiosk issues. At a turnstile, a speed gate, or elevator control it decodes in milliseconds and reports over Wiegand/RS485. The reader has a wide-dynamic lens, PWM fill light, and an offline whitelist. Screenshot replay is blocked with a time window plus a signature. Offline fallback and tamper detection on the mounting face keep a peak crowd moving.
Put the symbology, key rotation, and which log fields are masked into the hardware specification. Finish a privacy review that covers fire-alarm release, the blacklist link, and optional visitor photos.
Reliability and field fit
On electrical safety and EMC, the reader has passed the CCC items that apply. Ports are protected against surge and reversed polarity. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout cut ground-loop and common-mode risk. Outdoor or coastal sites can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Parameters load in a batch. Thresholds, and event video or waveform records, follow the model ordered. Configuration and firmware update over the air. Close acceptance with a power-on self-test, time sync on the link, and a sample reading. For metering or safety use, SimtoLink helps with a third-party metrology submission and the type-test file.
Key hardware parameters
The table is a typical build of this reader, for selection and for a tender clause. For a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe version, ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification and the installation and commissioning guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers shipped with the reader govern.
| Parameter | Specification | Notes |

| Supply | DC 12V / PoE (by order) | Wall mount / flush mount |
| Video | Image used for decode (not an NVR) | Visitor photo optional |
| Storage | Offline whitelist cache | Masked logs |
| Explosion protection | Not explosion-proof (typical) | Lobby turnstile |
| Operating temperature | -20~57 ℃ | Indoor and outdoor |
| Standard | GA/T / enterprise standard | Project acceptance |
Typical applications
Four common deployments, for solution design and for judging return on investment:
Grade-A office lobby
After self-registration, the visitor scans through the turnstile, so the front-desk queue is shorter.
Manufacturing parks and warehouses
Time-limited passes for carriers and temporary workers expire on their own.
Hospitals and care homes
Caregiver and visiting-hour codes, with an elevator destination floor where the platform supports it.
Exhibitions and events
Ticket and invitation in one code. Peak decode rate can be load-tested at acceptance.
Installation, grounding, and maintenance
- Before the reader is powered, confirm the supply range and polarity. If the drawing is thin, measure bus voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter.
- Run communications as shielded twisted pair, grounded at one end, and keep it out of a long shared route with high-power cable.
- On the bench, finish a two-way read and write and a threshold trip against the platform before the reader is mounted at the lane.
- An outdoor mount needs a path for water to leave and air to move. Recheck the seal face. Lightning-earth resistance has to meet the local rule.
- In long service, sample a reading and archive logs every 6 months.
Ordering, documentation, and support
Ask SimtoLink for the hardware specification, an outline drawing, the wiring table, and a sample project. A volume order can include a sample review and an inspector at the plant. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers packed with the reader.
