Definition
SDK (Software Development Kit) is a code library that encapsulates platform capabilities, wrapping RESTful API calls into local functions to reduce customer integration barriers. In the International IoT Cloud Platform (ICMP), the SDK supports multiple languages (such as Python, Java, Node.js, Go) and works with Swagger/OpenAPI specifications to accelerate the integration of customer systems with the platform, supporting capabilities such as SIM management, usage query, and billing.
Working Principle
The SDK encapsulates details such as HTTP requests, authentication, and error handling into high-level APIs. Customers only need to call something like client.activateSim(iccid) to complete activation, without manually constructing URLs, headers, or handling token refresh. The SDK is usually automatically generated based on Swagger/OpenAPI specifications or maintained manually, integrates with API Gateway, and supports OAuth2 or API Key authentication. Some SDKs also provide best practices such as retries, timeouts, and logging to improve integration stability.
Use Cases
Typical scenarios include: Customer system integration — enterprises integrate ICMP capabilities into their own BSS and operations systems, using the SDK to call RESTful APIs to activate SIMs, query usage, suspension, etc.; Reseller portal development — channel partners use the SDK to quickly build ordering and customer management features; Automated operations — triggering automated actions based on Usage Analytics and Event Subscription; POC and pilot projects — customers rapidly validate integration feasibility during the POC phase using the SDK.
Practice in ICMP
SimtoLink ICMP provides a multilingual SDK, covering major languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, and Go. The SDK is updated in sync with Swagger documentation, allowing customers to generate client code with one click. It supports both OAuth2 and API Key authentication methods, working together with API Gateway rate limiting and Audit Trail capabilities. Combined with RESTful API and Event Subscription, customers can build end-to-end automated connection management workflows, reducing operational costs and improving integration efficiency.
