Definition
Usage Analytics supports traffic consumption statistics by country, region, operator, PLMN, device, time, and other dimensions, providing CDR-level details, trend analysis, cost attribution, and other capabilities. In the International IoT Cloud Platform (ICMP), Usage Analytics meets the needs of cost optimization, TCO analysis, and Global Dashboard visualization, serving as an important support for connecting management operations and decision-making.
Working Principle
Usage Analytics provides capabilities such as multi-dimensional querying, visual charts, and report export based on aggregated data from Usage Aggregation and raw CDR. Typical analysis dimensions include: Geography—analyzing roaming usage and costs by country and VPLMN; Device and Project—analyzing usage distribution by device, project, and customer; Time—analyzing trends by day, week, and month, and identifying abnormal fluctuations; Cost Attribution—calculating costs across dimensions using Rate Card and Tiered Pricing to support TCO optimization decisions.
Use Cases
Typical scenarios include: Cost Optimization — identifying high-cost devices, countries, or PLMN, adjusting PLMN Selection, Preferred Network, Roaming Policy; Anomaly Detection — detecting usage spikes, abnormal roaming, promptly triggering Suspension or alerts; Procurement Decisions — selecting Pooled Data, Tiered Pricing, Volume Discount tiers based on historical usage and trends; Customer and Reseller Reporting — providing downstream customers with usage and cost analysis to support business communication.
Practice in ICMP
The Usage Analytics of SimtoLink ICMP is integrated into the Global Dashboard and Single Pane of Glass, providing configurable charts, filters, and export capabilities. It supports data isolation by customer, project, and Reseller. Analytical data can be accessed through RESTful API and integrated with the customer's own BI system. Combined with Usage Aggregation and Unified Invoice, it forms a complete data chain of 'usage collection—aggregation—analysis—billing', supporting operational decision-making and FinOps cost optimization.
