Usage Aggregation

Usage Aggregation

Definition

Usage Aggregation refers to aggregating raw CDR (Call Detail Records) by different dimensions to generate usage reports at pool, single SIM, project, and customer levels, supporting billing, cost attribution, and reconciliation. In the International IoT Cloud Platform (ICMP), Usage Aggregation works in conjunction with Pooled Data, Shared Bucket, and Quota to meet multi-dimensional cost attribution, Reconciliation, and Unified Invoice requirements.

Working Principle

Usage Aggregation collects CDR from operators or platforms and aggregates them according to time windows (day, week, month) and dimensions (device, pool, project, customer, country, PLMN). The aggregation results are used for: Billing—matching Rate Card and Tiered Pricing to calculate costs; Quota verification—determining if limits are exceeded and triggering Suspension or Overage; Reporting—supporting Usage Analytics and Global Dashboard visualization; Reconciliation—checking against operator bills and Unified Invoice. Both near real-time and batch processing modes are supported.

Use Cases

Typical scenarios include: Pooled Data pool-level billing—aggregating the usage of all devices in the pool and billing by the total usage of the pool; Multi-project cost allocation—aggregating usage by project or department to support internal accounting; Reseller channel reports—aggregating by reseller and downstream customers to support Commission settlement; Cross-border usage analysis—aggregating by country and VPLMN to analyze roaming costs and optimize Roaming Policy.

Practice in ICMP

SimtoLink ICMP's Usage Aggregation supports multi-dimensional and multi-granularity aggregation. Customers can view usage summaries by device, pool, project, and country in the Global Dashboard, and obtain aggregated data through the RESTful API for use in their own systems. Combined with Usage Analytics, it provides capabilities such as trend analysis, cost attribution, and anomaly detection. The aggregation results support Unified Invoice billing and Reconciliation reconciliation, meeting enterprise financial and TCO analysis needs.
