Development History and Milestones

Vodafone NZ, formerly known as BellSouth New Zealand, was acquired by Vodafone in 1998 and renamed. Since then, it has operated for a long time as a subsidiary of Vodafone Group. In 2019, Infratil and Brookfield acquired it for NZD 3.4 billion, with the transaction completed in May of that year. After the acquisition, Vodafone NZ retained its brand for independent operation and continued to invest in 5G and network upgrades. In March 2023, it was rebranded as One NZ to strengthen its local image. One year after the renaming, brand recognition and consideration among non-customers both exceeded those of the original Vodafone NZ brand.
