What the Gateway Does

The SimtoLink BACnet/IP building protocol gateway is for HVAC, lighting, and sub-metered energy. It joins BACnet/IP with Modbus, OPC UA, and MQTT, keeps an allow-list ACL, and runs redundant Ethernet with RSTP. It is the southbound aggregator for a campus energy system or a smart-city platform.

SimtoLink supplies an object-list template, a trend and alarm map, and notes on where to put the LoRa or 4G antenna. A volume order can change the wall-mount enclosure, PoE power, and the wide-temperature component grade.

Reliability on Site

The CE and FCC test list is already closed for this gateway. Surge and reverse-polarity protection sit on the ports. A heavier ground and a zoned layout cut ground-loop and common-mode risk. An outdoor or coastal cabinet can be ordered with a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coat.

Parameters load in a batch. Threshold rules, event video, and waveform capture are available depending on the model. Configuration and firmware update over OTA. The site check is a power-on self-test, time sync on the link, and a sample of live readings. For metering or a safety use, SimtoLink helps with a third-party metrology submission and hands over the type-test papers.

Key Hardware Parameters

These are the usual figures for selection and for a tender schedule. A wider range, a redundant supply, or an intrinsically safe build is a separate order; ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the family can differ slightly. The nameplate and the papers in the box decide.

Typical Use Cases

Three building jobs this gateway is usually bought for, when you are matching the protocol and proving the join:

Malls and Office Towers

Chiller and boiler plant, outdoor air, and lighting go up as one set of BACnet objects to the energy platform, for tenant billing and demand response.

Campuses and Hospitals

BACnet is routed across buildings and VLANs, so broadcast domains stay separate and the audit log stays.

Campus Utilities

Utility tunnels and outdoor cabinets come back over wireless, and the BACnet object model stays the same on the other side.

Mounting, Ground, and Service

  • Confirm the supply range and polarity before power is applied. Check bus voltage and breaker rating with a meter when the drawing is unclear.
  • Communications cable is shielded twisted pair, shield grounded at one end, and it should not share a long run with high-power cable.
  • Prove two-way reads and writes, and a threshold trip, against the platform on the bench before the gateway goes to the building.
  • Outdoors, keep water moving away and air moving through. Inspect the seal faces, and keep lightning-protection earth resistance inside the local rule.
  • In service, spot-check samples and archive logs every 12 months.

Ordering, Documentation, and Support

SimtoLink ships the hardware specification, an outline drawing, a wiring table, and a sample project with this gateway. Volume orders can include a sample review and a factory inspection. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the documents in the box.
