Product Overview and Engineering Role
The SimtoLink hydrology telemetry RTU is for scattered field stations that measure water level, rainfall, evaporation, and soil moisture. A low-power plan, solar supply, and sleep-wake keep it running through cloudy and rainy spells. 4G/NB multi-mode uplink and store-and-forward cut the chance of a lost reading.
The waterproof, lightning-protected enclosure fits a pole or a cabinet. Protocols can follow water-industry platforms and provincial hydrology-center practice. SimtoLink supplies a sensor connection list, time-service guidance, and a field calibration note, which helps when a station network is built and later spot-checked in volume.
Reliability and Site Conditions
On electrical safety and EMC, this RTU has cleared the relevant CCC items. Ports include surge and reverse-polarity protection. Reinforced grounding and a partitioned layout hold down ground loops and common-mode interference. Outdoor or coastal sites can take a higher ingress rating and a corrosion-resistant coating.
Parameters load in bulk, threshold policies can be set, and event video or waveforms can be kept, depending on the model. Configuration and firmware go out by OTA. Before sign-off, run a power-on self-test, sync time on the link, and spot-check a sample. For metering or safety use, SimtoLink helps submit the unit to a third-party metrology institute and provides the type-test documents.
Key Hardware Parameters
These figures are the typical build of this RTU, for selection and for a technical clause in a tender. For a wider range, redundant power, or an intrinsically safe explosion-proof variant, ask SimtoLink for the Hardware Specification and the Installation and Commissioning Guide. Order codes in the same family can differ slightly; the nameplate and the papers shipped with the RTU govern.

Typical Deployments
Four ways this RTU shows up in a project, for scheme design and for judging payback:
River and reservoir conditions
Level and rainfall raise a linked alarm, and the same readings go up for flood dispatch and for the ecological-flow check.
Irrigation districts and drought
Soil moisture and evaporation guide irrigation. On a narrowband link the RTU can still push a timed batch of stored readings.
Flash-flood and geohazard warning
Stations sit closer together on the small upstream catchments. The RTU stays in a low-power wait and samples faster when a storm starts.
Urban flooding and drainage pumps
Level trends at flood-prone points and pump-station status come into one view for the emergency desk.
Installation, Grounding, and Maintenance
- Check the supply range and polarity before you apply power. Where the bus is shared, confirm voltage and breaker rating with a multimeter.
- Use shielded twisted pair, ground the shield at one end, and do not lay it for a long distance in the same bundle as high-power cables.
- Before the first site cutover, prove bidirectional read and write and a threshold trip against the platform in the lab.
- Outdoors, leave a path for drainage and for air, inspect the gasket faces on a round, and keep the lightning earth resistance inside the local limit.
- While the RTU stays in service, spot-check a sample and archive the logs every 12 months.
Ordering, Documentation, and Support
SimtoLink ships a hardware specification, an outline drawing, a wiring table, and a sample project with the RTU. Volume orders can include a sample review and an inspection at the factory. Warranty and calibration follow the contract and the papers that travel with the unit.
